More than 15 years ago, I headed out to a nonprofit event in DC. It wasn’t supposed to be anything special. Once I got in, I bumped into different people I’d worked with over the years, and had the usual small talk. No big deal.

Then I turned to my left, and saw someone I’d never met before—John Lewis.

I stood there and tried to play it cool, just sort of hanging back for a minute while he chatted with other attendees. And no joke, I felt like Chris Farley on Saturday Night Live when I said: “Wow, the spread here’s pretty great. You’re John Lewis.” He cracked a slight smile, nodded, and it led to an unforgettable conversation for me.

I got to see him at a few other events before he passed. His speeches were always beyond inspirational. That’s why it warmed my heart to see so many folks gather yesterday to honor him, while protesting against the Trump regime.

The “Good Trouble Lives On” events took place in more than 1,600 locations across the US. In Chicago, a rally at Daley Plaza was followed by a candlelight vigil. Over in Cleveland, OH, protesters chanted “Good Trouble Lives On!” while marching to the Hope Memorial Bridge. I’ll have more on this tomorrow.

Last night, The Wall Street Journal—owned by Rupert Murdoch who also owns Fox “News”—reported on a birthday card Trump sent to Epstein. At the bottom of the card, near Trump’s signature, it read: “may every day be another wonderful secret.” Gross.

In response, Trump said he’s going to sue The Wall Street Journal, and ordered AG Pam Bondi to get the grand jury testimony on Epstein released. Which is not even close to all of the Epstein files, and that route could take forever.

US Army Veteran George Retes plans on suing the Trump regime. He was arrested and detained for 3 days until being released with no charges. Even though he had pepper spray on his body, Retes said he wasn’t given any medical attention. He also said, despite being a US citizen, he wasn’t allowed to contact an attorney or his family.

The good news here? Beyond the fact that he was released, Retes is speaking out, and doing so relentlessly. “The way they're going about this entire deportation process is completely wrong,” Retes said. “No one deserves to be treated this way.”

In an awkward twist, Trump falsely claimed he struck a “deal” with Coca-Cola to use cane sugar in their beverages, instead of high-fructose corn syrup. Coke responded by defending high-fructose corn syrup, which made it clear Trump lied.

This kind of chaos might explain why Trump’s disapproval rating is now at an all-time high for the year. A new The Economist/YouGov poll says 55% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s job performance. Get ready for another Oval Office tantrum.

If you believe in truth over lies, and action over apathy—you’re in the right place. At The Dworkin Report, we have no billionaire puppeteers, no ads, and no nonsense. Just people-powered journalism, fierce advocacy, and organizing that reaches millions, while shaking the walls of power.
