Living at the end of a dead-end road in the country, we are occasionally blessed when people dump their unwanted cats nearby. Recently two young cats showed up. Obviously litter mates based on appearance and age. The female agreed to come inside and adopt us a couple of weeks ago. Her brother, however, was very frightened of any movement in his direction, but after much coaxing, fresh food, and some cream, yesterday he came into the house and found comfortable sleep in a soft chair in a quiet room.
Thank you, kind, and caring people who lend a hand to the animal kingdom. So often these small creatures that we have domesticated have to fend for themselves in a very frightful world. I am thankful that these two made it to your door. My local small park seems to be the dumping ground of choice for heartless people who discard their responsibilities in great abundance under cover of darkness. Two other ladies and I have fed up to 67 cats who have made a home there. Unfortunately, the local police has posted a sign that no one is supposed to feed animals in the park and one lady has received a $50 dollar fine - twice! I have adopted three cats and they have made wonderful family members. I wish more people cared about the animals - dogs and cats - that we humans have domesticated.
Patti, couldn’t the Cats be taken to a Humane Society for help and then adopted? That happens here in Durango, they are taken care of and then most get adopted!

All states should pass similar laws to tax people who are making over a million dollars a year. I recommend taxing them at 15%. Clearly my favorite.
