I think it's great they aren't helping ice.

Noem is worse unless Hegsbreath has shot pets. Wait...he shot people!

They are both evil, pretending to be human.🤬

I agree about the Municipalities detaching from their relationship with ICE.

IMO, Noem and Hegseth are neck and neck and I think it will ultimately be a photo finish in their race to the bottom!

It’s pretty much a toss up between Noem and Heg - both evil. But somehow I can’t get beyond Noem’s empty eyes and ice-cold attitude. (No pun intended, really.) She proudly displays the blackness of her soul. I wouldn’t want to be in the same room with her. I imagine it would feel dark and oppressive.

Do you remember the Christmas picture she sent out a couple of years ago? Her whole family holding assault rifles, including the little kids. I have no doubt she would shoot me between the eyes in a heartbeat. So yes, it’s a tie.

I think there may also be an element of sexist stereotyping. People may be more repelled when such behavior comes from a woman.

Hegseth comes across as an arrogant, entitled, drunken frat boy, so people are less suprised when he exhibits toxic masculinity.

Both they are both totally unqualified for their roles and the GOP Senators should be held to account for confirming them - along with RKF Jr. and a host of other nominees!

Was that Noem or Rep Lauren Boebert or did they both have Christmas pics with the family holding guns? Either way, it shows who they are.

I had to check it out! It was Boebert. But good old ChatGPT showed me a couple of other pictures put out by prominent politicians, and of all things, Massie did it too! The Epstein hero has got tarnish on him, but we knew that. Another politician did the same kind of picture, Michelle Fiore.

You’re right, could’ve been Boebert but you are very correct, it could’ve been either. For some reason I can’t envision it being anyone but Noem!

How about people who shoot puppy-dogs? It occurs to me and maybe not only me that the Trump-Hegseth crew are madly trying to start a war. I think it is the greatest insanity! I lived through a few wars and I know war is the greatest human insanity. We do not want war.

I'm glad to see local governments resisting ICE. The more, the merrier. I'm sure this will have some impact too on people who might consider going to work for ICE--seeing their local communities rejecting it tells them that joining ICE is not supported or wanted in their towns.

You can smell change in the air and I enjoy watching Trump’s desires of being crowned King fail like everything else he does. 2028 cannot get here soon enough. I am ready to watch wall-to-wall coverage of the criminal prosecutions of the Trump Crime Cabinet (TCC).

The 2026 elections can't get here soon enough - IF we do what we need to do to prevent them from being hacked, as 2024 so glaringly obviously was.

Expand full comment
Cheryl Johnson's avatar

I'm not clear why you think hacking was "glaringly obvious". Trump once again pulled MAGA voters out of the woodwork, low information Biden voters either stayed home or were gullible enough to believe Trump's promises to "lower costs from Day One" and to only deport "violent criminals".

Hacking elections is harder than you might think in most places. Elections are run at the county and state level which makes centralized hacking impossible. I am personally only familiar with how it works in my county (in NC), but there are sufficient checks and balances that I am confident that there is no hacking here. Your mileage may vary.

I expect most of the skullduggery to be in voter suppression, last-minute voter roll purges, more restrictive voter ID laws, restricting who qualifies for a mail-in ballot, eliminating or restricting ballot drop boxes, cutting or eliminating the grace period for receiving mail-in ballots postmarked on-or-before election day, and the nefarious selection of polling places to make longer lines in black and brown neighborhoods and eliminate polling places convenient to college campuses. If you throw up roadblock for voters who are more likely to vote Democrat, you don't actually have to do any hacking to change a vote.

Please consider getting involved in election protection, it will give you a different perspective. I was an official poll observer for the Democrats here in NC in the 2020, 2022, 2024, and now 2025 elections. (This year is the first time NC Board of elections authorized poll observers for municipal elections).

This is going to be big in 2026 - find out what is available to you by contacting your local Democratic party. I'm also a menber of the League of Women Voters and our chapter is always looking for volunteers to monitor board of election meetings or act as observers when the County Board of Elections is reviewing Mail-in Ballots to make sure they qualify to be counted.

There will also be opportunities to cover shifts for the voter protection hotline. it usually starts up several weeks before the election to answer voter questions and then during the voting period for voters to report issues at their early voting (EV) sites or their election day polling places.

Rambo Kegsbreath AND EVERYONE up and down the Defense Department Chain-of-Command - from POTUS to whomever ‘pulled the trigger’ ARE MASS MURDERERS.

No Declaration of War exists.

The boat people, if indeed they were transporting illegal drugs, were transporting PRODUCTS THAT MILLIONS OF AMERICANS PURCHASE, WILLINGLY.

ZERO evidence exists that they were ‘terrorists’ and, even if they were, they were far from US Territorial waters and could just as easily been contained instead of being MURDERED.

Period.

Trump's hypocrisy is especially blatant since he pardoned Juan Orlando Hernández, the former president of Honduras, who is serving a 45-year sentence in a U.S. prison for drug trafficking.

As is usually the case with Trump, we need to FOLLOW THE MONEY. How big a bribe did he receive for this??

You know my son told me I need to be careful with what I say on the internet - so here goes - What do you think about local governments choosing not to cooperate with ICE due to massive public pressure? It's about time and I wish every single community would do so. ICE is using illegal bully methods and they need to be stopped. I would be attending those town hall meetings to stop ICE.

Who do you think is worse—Noem or Hegseth? And why? This is a really difficult question. The dog killer or the drunkard? Pouty lips or slick hair? I give up - they are both equally horrible. for disobeying the law, the Constitution, judges, honesty, integrity, and the list can go on.

I don't think I made my son happy.

Local grass movements are another tool to use to win against this regime! Noem and Hegseth are equally bad for this country and Noem should be held in contempt for intentionally not following the court’s ruling and Hegseth should be tried for murder and/or breaking international law … I’m so ashamed of our government’s law-breaking, reckless decisions …😔 Thank you, Scott, for your great reporting!

Noem and Hegseth are equally evil and both are responsible for deaths of people not proven to be guilty of anything.

Cities refusing to aid ICE is very welcome, even if it is late in coming. They are joining the Resistance, and that is a really welcome change.

Scott, once again I want to thank you for these positive news briefs. Sometimes I sink into despair over what is happening to our country. However, your news briefs lift me up and the darkness recedes.

I think the ICE/Border patrol raids in LA, Chicago, and my own NC show where the money is being spent - a hiring bonanza for young white Nationalist Thugs (with hiring bonuses of up to $50,000), huge quantities of tactical gear, lots and lots of large SUVS and panel trucks with heavily tinted windows, high tech communication devices, military-style helicopters, and of course outrageous costs for housing the ICE prisoners - all these for-profit prisons are owned by big Trump supporters and I think they are getting no bid contracts.
