A Nightmare On GOP Street: Trump's Lies Get Torched, Vance Gets Schooled, and Johnson's SNAP Plan Haunts American Families

A week of GOP implosions you can't unsee

While Trump is back in the US after embarrassing us abroad all week, I’m glad to have more great news for you today! Thanks for being here. Let’s dive in.

OPPOSITION TO VANCE IN MISSISSIPPI

During an event featuring JD Vance at the University of Mississippi on Wednesday, folks held a counter-event across campus, called the “Mississippi Rise Up Town Hall.”

Tennessee State Rep. Gloria Johnson, one of the speakers at the town hall, stated: “Is it ‘evil’ to want every single person in your community to be able to go to the hospital when they’re sick? … Dehumanizing our neighbors is what is evil.”

At Vance’s event, he was slammed over the regime’s immigration abuses by one student, who asked: “Why did you sell us a dream? … We have worked hard for it. How can you as a vice president stand there and say that we have too many [immigrants] now … and tell us we don’t belong here anymore?”

Vance tried to joke about how long the question was, and scrambled to respond. It was truly pathetic, even for him.

TRUMP AND JOHNSON SLAMMED ON FOX

Jessica Tarlov, one of the few Democratic contributors on Fox “News,” has had enough of maga’s lies. Tarlov stated: “The story about Democrats cutting off SNAP benefits … that we are the heartless ones, and Mike Johnson feels terrible, is how you say: bulls**t.”

Tarlov also said: “The fact that our allies continue to have gotten the memo that Trump is made satiated or made happy if you treat him like a toddler—playing dress-up and give him the crown that he wishes for … I think it’s a really sad reflection.”

SPEAKER SLIP-UP

Speaking of Mike Johnson, he somehow hit a new low yesterday when he decided to say the quiet part as loud as possible.

Admitting the GOP is using funding for SNAP benefits as leverage in Trump’s ongoing shutdown, Johnson said he won’t fund the program because it would “reduce the pressure” on Democrats. What a disgrace.

TRUMP FACT-CHECKED BY XI

Trump’s lies about ending various wars and conflicts were served a cold hard fact check by Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday.

Xi said: “During your visit to Malaysia, you witnessed the signing of the Joint Declaration on Peace along the Cambodia-Thailand border, and you provided your support.” Making it clear Trump didn’t resolve anything, he was at best a bystander. And to make it worse, Trump didn’t seem to realize he’d been called out.

WARREN PRESSES TRUMP NOMINEE

This week, Dem Sen. Elizabeth Warren did not hold back during her questioning of Dr. Julie Callahan—Trump’s nominee for chief agricultural trade negotiator. Warren said: “Farmers are in trouble because China quit buying from them. Because—who is China buying from right now? What’s that country?”

Callahan deflected by acting like it was every country except the US. So Warren asked three more times, and each answer sounded more like a guess. Fed up, Warren stated: “If you can’t answer that question, I don’t see how you can represent American soybean farmers.”

CROCKETT ON KIMMEL

Dem Rep. Jasmine Crockett joined Jimmy Kimmel Live! to speak more on Trump’s absurd attacks on her IQ. Crockett said Trump “can’t seem to find himself in the Oval Office to make sure that he can end this shutdown, but he does have time to troll me.”

Kimmel then gave her some cognitive test questions in good fun, before asking if she accepted Trump’s IQ challenge. Crockett said: “Oh, I absolutely accept.”
