How do I feel about them 'attacking' Kennedy? Too little, too late. They knew even before he was confirmed that he was woefully unqualified for that position, yet they voted him through anyway. To show real courage at this point would mean them doing all they can to remove him from HHS now. And an aside, I am SO glad I live in Washington State where I know our government will do all it possibly can to keep us safe.

Tracy, yes, they disqualified themselves and destroyed their credibility as doctors and servants of the People by confirming him. Good for the Western governors as well as Eastern truth tellers to come forward for the national health. Thank you for hammering the flip-flop, Republicans, Scott. You have to like slugs in your garden too! My granddaughter lives there and she’s a plant person, and it’s a challenge, the plants are lush but those nasty little things love to chew on them.

Yes, the bowl of beer works, actually a tuna fish can sits in the ground and they can just go into it. But what I found to be very fun when I get slugs on my hostas if it’s been rainy is to get a squirt bottle full of vinegar, squirt it on them and you get to watch them curl up and melt! I guess I have a cruel streak in me that doesn’t apply to anything but those slugs. I can think of some other creatures I would like to spray with vinegar if they would shrivel up and melt!

The continuing attacks on the medical profession, by Kennedy (bringing shame to the great family name) and the ludicrous idea that AI is even remotely qualified to make any decisions, reflect the ongoing move against science. The regime is all about going back to the dark ages. What’s next, slugs and bleeding to rid us of “bad humours”?

Actually, maggot therapy is an effective treatment !

Where maggot therapy is performed

MDT is typically performed in outpatient clinics but can be administered in the hospital and even at home in some cases, said Armstrong. The first patient Armstrong is aware of to have MDT performed at home was early in 2020.

Although I live in Florida and the Sunshine State has truly gone back to the Dark Ages with Surgeon General Quackapo!

I’ve seen leeches used in a hospital setting to increase blood flow to a toe transplanted to replace a severed thumb. 🫱🏼

Expand full comment
Robot Bender's avatar

They actually do a good job because of their anticoagulant saliva and small area they affect. They're good at removing clots, too.

Expand full comment
Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

Back in the old days they used to use the leeches sort of randomly, not for a particular purpose like you all are talking about. They just applied them because they thought the sucking of blood would help the patient! Not in any particular place just anywhere!

Maggots have their place in medicine, they can clean up an infected wound, but leeches are what they used to apply to people randomly back when they thought that was a way to cure disease.

Scott, I doubt the Republican Senators wouldn’t have gone after Kennedy if they hadn’t been given the OK from the Trump administration. A poll circulated among the Republican Senators prior to the hearing indicated vaccines are popular among MAGA supporters. Anecdotally, Scott, ALL the “Letters to the Editor” in the red, red Naples paper this morning were calling out the idiocy of Florida’s Surgeon General Ladapo’s(Dr. Quack)removal of vaccine mandates. DeSantis didn’t fare well either.

Brenda, same with the Orlando Sentinel this morning!

My Gannett paper on east coast has severely limited Letters To Ed while often platforming our MAGA US Rep….although his editorials have been scarce lately, just like his town halls.

Also, for those in Florida find the date and location of your county’s town hall.🗣️

State legislative delegation meetings (town halls) happen in each county and bring together Florida House and Senate members representing any part of that county. These open forums are scheduled before the Legislative Session begins at the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee on January 13, 2026. They offer a unique chance for local communities (nonprofits, businesses, stakeholders, and constituents) to express their priorities to elected officials. This is your opportunity to speak to your representatives about the issues important to you and your family.

My Congressman, Mario Diaz-Balart, never has town halls. When I asked how he knows his constituents’ wishes, I was told he makes phone calls to people in his district. I asked that my name be placed on the call list, but, surprise, I’ve never been called. Like much of Florida, it’s a highly gerrymandered district.

Brenda, 3 REPUBLICAN MASSACHUSETTS ELECTED OFFICIALS (fortunately we don't have many) endorsed DESANTIS shortly after he appointed WHACK-A-DING LADAPO...supporting the ALIEN SPERM DONOR Whack-a-Ding? The same ALIEN SPERM DOCTOR that Trump supported?

Don't count on this WHACK-A-DING to protect PUBLIC HEALTH!

While I haven't paid a great deal of attention to this WHACK-A-DING, I was alarmed by this issue of LEPROSY that LADAPO ignored.

How Armadillos Can Spread Leprosy

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/how-armadillos-can-spread-leprosy-180954440/

It is known that ARMADILLOS can spread LEPROSY, but there are cases in FLORIDA of LEPROSY in which there was NO CONTACT with ARMIDILLOS.

It raises the question of LEPROSY migrating to other species...IGNORED BY LADAPO.

While LEPROSY is treatable, what else would LADAPO ignore?

I'm not there, but this guy is NOT qualified to protect public health.

Bob Kennedy is a worm eaten brain; he lies, he has conspiracies in his worm eaten brain and he is the biggest threat to public health we have ever seen. The billionaires that support trump should realize that a looming pandemic will hit their families too, not just the poor in our country. But I would like to hear questions directed to the (Dr) Senators who voted for him. Threats or favors from trump🤷‍♀️

The billionaires can afford to pay for vaccines. They don’t care about anyone else but themselves. It’s a rare billionaire that has any good ethics or morals. There are a few that care about others, I admit, but you can pretty much count them on one hand in the USA.

On another note, I’d like to pass along something I read in a book yesterday that struck me. In a book called “Trial Run“ by Dick Francis, a former English steeplechase jockey who writes very intelligent books about horse racing but especially about crime involved in horse racing, which in many cases has to do with corruption and terrorism. You will see that this aptly describes MAGA people of all ages. And he wrote it in 1978!

“The intensifying to anger of the natural scorn of youth for the mess their elders had made of the world. The desire to punish violently the objects of scorn. The death of love for parents. The permanent sneer for all forms of authority. The frustration of not being able to scourge the despised majority. And after that, the deeper, malignant distortions… The self-delusion that one’s feelings of inadequacy were the fault of society, and that it was necessary to destroy society in order to feel adequate. The infliction of pain and fear, to feed the hungry ego. The total surrender of reason to raw emotion, in the illusion of being moved by a sort of divine rage. The choice of an unattainable end, so that the violent means could go on and on. The addictive orgasm of the act of laying waste.”

IMHO these attacks are too little, too late, especially since both senators voted to confirm “Bob” (I just can’t use the “K” name here) — additionally, for tRump it is a welcomed distraction. It keeps people from focusing on the ongoing destruction of democracy & the rule of law. tRump has no concern for the health of the citizenry and the gutting of science research etc.

Agree. It's not just solely the distraction of the files. It's the bombing of a small boat in international waters without cause. It's the $5B in crypto that the rump family has already made.
