Biden & Harris Cement Roe as Centerpiece of Campaign
Today's Virginia speeches made it clear that women's rights will be a focus in 2024
The President, First Lady, VP and Second Gentleman all took the stage today giving campaign speeches in support of reproductive freedom.
The room was flooded with signs that read “Restore Roe” and “Defend Choice,” cementing the fact that women’s rights will indeed be a centerpiece of the 2024 campaign, as it should be.
“This moment also demands leaders who will fight to protect and reinstate a women’s right to choose, and luckily we have those leaders. We have Joe Biden and Kamala Harris!” Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff said, when kicking off the rally.
“Women put Joe and Kamala in the White House, and we will do it again!” First Lady Dr. Jill Biden said.
Vice President Kamala Harris followed saying “we have in Joe Biden a courageous fighter for our most fundamental freedoms as Americans, including of course, the freedom to make decisions about one’s own body and not have their government tell them what they’re supposed to do.”
VP Harris went on saying Trump “is the architect of this healthcare crisis.” “Do we trust women? Do we believe in reproductive freedoms? Do we believe in the promise of America? And are we ready to fight for it?” The crowd cheered in response. VP Harris closed by saying “And when we fight, we win.”
VP Harris then introduced Amanda Zurawski to share her harrowing story about almost dying during childbirth: “What I went through was nothing short of barbaric. And it didn’t need to happen, but it did. Because of Donald Trump.” Amanda then introduced President Biden.
Loud chants of “Four more years!” and “Let’s go Joe!” continued to light up the room.
President Biden got straight to the point: “The person most responsible for taking this freedom away in America, is Donald Trump. Trump says he’s proud that he overturned Roe v. Wade. He said there has to be punishment for the women exercising their reproductive freedom. He describes the Dobbs decision as a miracle, but for American women it’s a nightmare.”
President Biden goes on slamming Trump: “The reason women are being forced to travel across state lines for healthcare is Donald Trump.”
President Biden went on to confidently say: “If Congress were to pass a national abortion ban, I will veto it.”
There were some protestors who kept interrupting the speech, but President Biden seemed ready for it. He plowed through like he did during the last State of the Union.
