On Sunday, while we were busy calling out mainstream media for one of their worst weeks of coverage ever, Pete Buttigieg went on CNN and absolutely dismantled JD Vance.
Following a lie-filled Vance interview with Dana Bash, Buttigieg expertly showed us how taking down MAGA is done.
Walz’s Exemplary Military Service
Buttigieg slammed Vance for accusing Walz of lying about his military service:
“The fact that a Veteran wants to go out and disparage another Veteran just goes against certainly everything I learned during my time in service.”
Pete also pointed out that JD is “running with Donald Trump, somebody who has set records for lying in public life.”
As a reminder, Buttigieg was an intelligence officer in the US Navy Reserve, who deployed to Afghanistan and reached the rank of Lieutenant.
Vance is Anti-Family
JD Vance outright lied, claiming he wants to expand the child tax credit.
Pete told the truth in simple terms:
“We're the ones trying to get the child tax credit expanded, and JD Vance couldn't be bothered to show up in the Senate and vote for it. Republicans have blocked that from being expanded, or it would be the law of the land right now. So if you want to talk about promoting children, promoting family, put your money where your mouth is.”
Defending Families
Pete also responded to JD Vance’s lies and continued bizarre attacks on families: “When he says he never criticized people for not having kids…he very much did, including Kamala Harris and me…millions of Americans…who he disparaged as ‘childless cat ladies’.”
“I'm a dog guy with two kids but I’m one of millions of Americans he managed to insult there…He seems incapable of…lifting people up…or helping people out.”
Calling Out Trump’s Lies
Pete also ripped Trump, saying he “just gave a press conference where fact checkers estimate that he told 162 distortions or lies. Frankly, it's just impressive in terms of being able to physically do that. It's like the Olympics of lying…This is exactly the kind of politics that people are sick of.”
After watching the Press repeatedly fail to do their jobs last week, it’s so refreshing to see someone like Pete Buttigieg go on mainstream media and tear apart MAGA’s lies.
But it needs to be done everywhere, at a constant.
Last week our campaigns trended to the top of social media networks, garnering more than 1.8 billion impressions. This week we are accelerating our fight against Trump’s lies, calling out mainstream media, and pushing hard to elect Kamala Harris.

Pete just might be a national treasure.
Damn fine work, as always!
If only Pete Buttigieg could be a debate moderator!
Today WaPo's Jennifer Rubin's wrote an excellent critique of the media's coverage of Trump, specifically the first debate: Paywall free: https://wapo.st/4dCnR1Y
CNN's Jake Tapper/Dana Bash completely lost control of the first debate, and when that happens, it's no longer a debate. Rubin offered important suggestions for the second debate moderators, that I believe are essential. To recap:
1. Moderators either need to fact check as they go along or phrase the questions in ways to let the audience know Trump has been lying.
“Why did you claim your crowds are larger than the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s when that is obviously false?”
“Why do insist calling those convicted of assaulting police officers on Jan. 6 ‘hostages’?”
2. When Trump does not answer substantive questions, they must cut him off and redirect. Asking a candidate for specifics on his debt reduction plans, tax cuts and health care — and then following up on his word salads — should be a critical part of any presidential debate.
“Sir, you did not explain your child-care policy. What is it?”
3. Trump’s outrageous expressions of solidarity with dictators and war criminals need to be highlighted.
“In the last debate, you said you spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin before the full-scale invasion. Is that true, and if so, why didn’t you report that to the administration?”
“Why did you invite Putin to invade NATO countries?”
4. ABC moderators should not shy away from Trump’s recent behavior.
“Why did you wreck the toughest border bill in a generation after one of the most conservative members negotiated the deal? What, specifically was wrong with it?”
“You have been convicted 34 times and been held in contempt of court 10 times. How can you take an oath to uphold the Constitution?”
“There is zero evidence Biden had anything to do with your prosecution. Why do you continue to say he did?”
I'm hoping Muir/Davis conduct a bold and fearless debate. They should also ask tough questions of Harris, but frankly, she is not an incoherent, lying, narcissistic, rapist and convicted felon who's just as soon rip up the Constitution and spit on the rule of law. The whole world is watching.
