Colbert Lights The Set On Fire, Spy Chief Out After Years Of Resistance Pressure, UN Hands Trump Major Climate Defeat, and Grassroots Energy Flips Salem
Four wins the regime didn’t see coming
With all of Trump’s chaos, I’m glad to have four real wins to share with you today. Thanks for being here.
We can’t do this work without you. The reporting, investigations, resistance organizing—all of it—is made possible by our readers. So if you’re not yet a paid subscriber, I hope you’ll become one today:

TULSI GABBARD, GONE
The spy chief of the United States is out. The White House forced Tulsi Gabbard to resign. The official story is her husband’s cancer diagnosis.
Six weeks ago, Trump nearly fired her for not being a strong enough cheerleader for his Iran war. Roger Stone allegedly talked him off the ledge. Laura Loomer had been going after her ever since she started. She didn’t survive this time.
Gabbard is the fourth Cabinet official out this term—joining fired Kristi Noem, fired Pam Bondi, and resigned Lori Chavez-DeRemer. All women.
Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas inherits the mess. The spy shop is in open warfare with the CIA. Gabbard spent her tenure putting loyalty to Trump ahead of American intelligence—and the damage shows.
We’ve been pushing back against Gabbard for years, and sent tens of thousands of letters to Congress opposing her nomination. Her team once tried to get me to work on her campaign for free. Seeing her forced out of one of the most powerful intelligence posts in the world is a small but real victory.
141 NATIONS JUST VOTED AGAINST TRUMP
Last week, the United Nations handed the world a landmark legal win—and the Trump regime found itself on the wrong side of it.
On May 20, 141 nations voted to back the World Court’s ruling that fighting climate change is a legal duty, not a political choice. Vanuatu—a Pacific island nation already losing ground to rising sea levels—wrote the resolution. Pacific students initiated the campaign and relentlessly pushed the case to the court.
The regime tried to kill it, pressuring Vanuatu for months. Deputy UN Ambassador Tammy Bruce even called the resolution “alarmist” from the UN floor. The world voted anyway. Only eight countries voted no—the US, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Belarus, Israel, Liberia, and Yemen.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres was blunt: “The world’s highest court has spoken. Today, the General Assembly has answered.”
This is what global resistance looks like.
ANOTHER GRASSROOTS WIN
In Salem, Oregon, progressive grassroots candidate Vanessa Nordyke beat an incumbent who had the money, the mailers, and the business establishment—but couldn’t be bothered to show up.
Mayor Julie Hoy skipped debates, ducked press interviews, and refused to respond to the local paper’s questions. She raised $210,114—from Mountain West Investment Corporation, the Oregon Realtors PAC, Commercial Property Resources, and Marion+Polk First—and let the mailers do her talking.
Nordyke knocked on 7,000 doors herself. She raised $77,410 from small donors giving fifty bucks at house parties. She showed up everywhere Hoy didn’t. On election night, it wasn’t close—Nordyke won 56% to 44%.
Down the ballot, Dave Inbody knocked on 4,000 doors and unseated Republican incumbent councilor Deanna Gwyn. Inbody said it plainly: “There’s no substitute for getting out and meeting the people that you’re looking to represent.”
COLBERT BURNS THE SET DOWN
After Trump sued Paramount for a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris he didn’t like, the company caved and paid him $16 million to make the lawsuit disappear. Three days later, CBS canceled Stephen Colbert—their ratings leader, who had just won the show’s first-ever Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series last fall.
One week later, Trump’s FCC Chairman Brendan Carr approved Paramount’s $8 billion merger with Skydance—run by Trump ally David Ellison.
Sen. Ron Wyden didn’t mince words: “Paramount just paid Trump a bribe for merger approval.”
They thought that was the end of it. Twenty-three hours after his finale, Colbert was back on Monroe Community Media—a public access channel in Monroe, Michigan. Jack White on guitar, Jeff Daniels on the couch. Steve Buscemi and Eminem on tape. He opened with one line: “I am grateful to be here on Monroe Community Media—before they also get acquired by Paramount.”
He closed by ripping apart the set, hauling it outside, and burning it in a dumpster. They thought firing him would shut him up. He took over a public access set in Michigan and lit the whole thing on fire on his way out.
We’ve been building something here—through our reporting, our investigations, and the Watchdog Coalition Against Trump’s Corruption—fighting every day to flip the House and Senate and end this regime at the ballot box.
If you’re not yet a paid subscriber, I hope you’ll consider joining us today. What you just read exists because readers make it possible. No corporations, no billionaires—just people who decided the truth was worth a few bucks a month. I’d be honored to have you with us:
Then hit the ❤️ like button and re-stack this post. The regime wants everyone to be silent. Let’s disappoint them.
Onward!
Scott
