So Scott, I have not seen it mentioned, but does Hegseth’s attempt to reduce Senator Kelly’s retirement rank and pay violate the Speech and Debate Clause?

“Should we be organizing a national school board campaign around the Tucson model?” YES!!! As a retired public educator with years of lockdown drills, I heartily approve of Tucson is doing. 👏👏👏👏👏

It surely sounds like a great idea to start.

🏫 Absolutely! We need to keep unidentified law enforcement officers off school campuses. Orgaizing on Tuscon’s model is a great idea to keep kids safe!

Yes, give 🍊an awful weekend.

I love hearing this in Arizona and seeing kids getting involved in our fight against ICE and Fascism!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Same here Lily!

Get hedgehog out of here! What a disgrace! SHAME SHAME SHAME!

This is all so sickening watching this regime wasting time and money to just try to embarrass their political opponents...but thanks to hedgehog's despicable acts further our respect and admiration for our brave veterans Mark Kelly, Slotkin and the 4 others that stood up to this fucking felon!

Such a waste of time and resources they could be arresting the Epstein accomplices!

Great news! I'm especially happy for the unionized workers. Unionizing is HARD work and then you have to get to your first contract. So well done on them!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

It really is, and they've worked so hard for so long on it!

All schools should be followingTucson!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Agreed Janet!

As a Tucsonian, I say TUCSON STRONG! Thank you to Senator Kelly and our Schools !

Thanks for all you do here, Scott. You're one of the reasons this stuff is working. I do get the sense that the top is about to blow off the pressure cooker soon. I don't know what that looks like, but I get a feeling it is going to be huge. Maybe the predator in chief finally keels over? Or congressional republicans stop protecting his Epstein past? I dunno. It's just a gut feeling.

The Tucson thing is very cool.

Check out this, too, from Chicago. Kids are walking out of Chicago area schools, continuing to protest even though ICE is said to be gone (they're not really gone, just not making as much racket as before.)

This is a gift (free) link to an otherwise paywalled story from the Chicago Tribune, which has mysteriously turned into a good media source under its newish editor:

According to last evening’s news (Philadelphia ABC local) hundreds of high school students in Philly also walked out against ICE.

Excellent article. Thank you.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Thanks so much Charles! I think we will see the biggest protests ever in March for No Kings Day, and I think organizing and great candidates will lead to a flip of the House and Senate with more progressive leadership

Great work Tucson Unified School District!

Thank you Minneapolis for showing others how to unite a diverse community into a cohesive force for the welfare and protection of all.

A week or two ago, I was elated and inspired when driving home from my pottery class and saw a mass of young people across the street with signs saying things like “DUMP TRUMP”. It was midday, so these wonderful young people obviously got up from behind their desks at Fort Collins High at a prescribed time, gathered their various signs and walked out of class to protest this administration.

It is, after all, these children who will be saddled with the full impact of damage trumpstein has inflicted and is inflicting. THEY have to suffer the hyper-accelerated climate change, the loss of public spaces and wildlife, the impact of trump’s dismantling of the education department and DEI, his crazed, lunatic economic policies and decisions and everything else that are too many to mention.

They have EVERY right to skip class to protest trump and his awful, demonic government.

And in answer to the first question, YES. Normal officers of the law would show their credentials anyway, so of course. Indeed, isn’t any unknown adult entering a school classroom under scrutiny anyway? ALL adults unknown to the students and faculty should show/say who they are!

Patti Scott's avatar

But ICE are bullies who have broken into homes without warrants. The states need to protect our citizens!

Wis's avatar

That’s true, and that’s illegal.

Did I say anything that contradicts your objection? Because I totally agree with you and I’ll edit my comment if I somehow supported the opposite.

Patti Scott's avatar

No your comments are correct, I’m just saying they have proven they don’t play by the rules so we need many levels of protection
