REDISTRICTING: GOP LOSSES, AMERICAN WINS

After massive pushback, Indiana Republicans said they just don’t have the votes to move forward with Trump’s gerrymandering scheme. Even after JD Vance made multiple trips to Indianapolis to boost the effort, only a small number of state senators publicly supported it.

Pete Buttigieg said the Indiana GOP folded for “a couple reasons. One: obviously, they know that this is wrong ... But the other reason has to do with what we did, together, to create pressure—rallying, posting, speaking out ... so that they couldn’t just quietly get away with it.”

THE RESISTANCE STRIKES BACK

Earlier this year, Sam O’Hara went viral for walking behind members of the National Guard that Trump deployed to DC, while playing “The Imperial March” from the movie Star Wars on a speaker. Now, the ACLU has joined forces with O’Hara to sue over his arrest.

O’Hara’s complaint states: “The law might have tolerated government conduct of this sort a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. But in the here and now, the First Amendment bars government officials from shutting down peaceful protests.”

Even some of the Guard members deployed to DC had a sense of humor about O’Hara’s act of protest, as you can see in the image above.

ANOTHER BAD TRUMP POLL

A new Quinnipiac poll has Trump’s net approval rating on the economy at -19 points, which is the lowest ever for any president. By popular demand, I once again covered up his face with a pumpkin. Because, why not?

LEAVITT CAN’T SELL IT

Trump’s lead propagandist and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt struggled yesterday to defend tearing down the East Wing of the White House. She was repeatedly asked why the public wasn’t informed, and she had no good answers.

But she did make it clear that “at this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president’s main priority.” Good to know.

MIKE JOHNSON IS NOT GOOD AT THIS

This week, Mike Johnson dodged questions about Trump demanding $230 million from the DOJ, claiming he didn’t have the details. Give me a break.

Seriously, this is not a complex issue. What a pathetic excuse for a Speaker who shouldn’t be trusted with a juice box, and should never serve in elected office again.

DEMS CALL FOR ARREST OF ABUSIVE FEDERAL AGENTS

Democrats are speaking out about the flagrant abuses by federal agents, demanding action be taken by local and state authorities.

Rep. Dan Goldman said: “No one is above the law—not ICE, not CBP … federal agents who assault or detain New Yorkers without legal authority must be held accountable, and the NYPD must protect our neighbors if the federal government refuses to.”

While Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Kevin Mullin released a joint statement, saying: “California law ... prevents federal agents from taking certain actions here ... Our state and local authorities may arrest [them] ... and if they are convicted, the president cannot pardon them.”
