Dear Scott, the attached is my letter to Senators Duckworth & Kelly. You likely know either them or members of their staff or both. I'd appreciate you forwarding it to any of them. Thank you!

================

Dear Senator Duckworth [Kelly in separate letter],

One of the most important, if not most important, act you could perform for the sake of our Democracy is to ENTER that VIDEO of the cowardly murder of the two ‘boat people’ INTO THE CONGRESSIONAL Record.

In doing so, among many consequences, countless lives will be saved and an ILLEGAL, UNJUST WAR on Venezuela will be avoided.

Essential context:

The current Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, was BORN ~ 4 months AFTER the My Lai Massacre, and was ~ 3 years old when Ellsberg published the first installment of the Pentagon Papers in the NY Times in June, 1971.

Admiral Frank Bradley graduated high school in 1987, so he likely is the same age as Gen Caine, i.e., he was an infant or not yet born in March, 1968.

In other words, they have no actual experience with the consequences of the public learning of the My Lai massacre or the contents of the portions of the “Pentagon Papers” that were published in 1971 - only a small, and by no means most damning, information Ellsberg could have published.

For those of us who were more than a little close to those two events, the notion of having an ~ HOUR of EYES ON of two humans clinging to debris, struggling not to drown, and then being shredded by the US Military is PRECISELY WHY it is absolutely ESSENTIAL that EVERY AMERICAN (and the world) see the video coverage of that COWARDLY, MURDEROUS ACTION.

Had it not been for ONE, YES JUST ONE, courageous person NO ONE WOULD HAVE EVER KNOWN of the My Lai atrocities.

That person Specialist 5 Ronald L. Ridenhour, a former door gunner from the Aviation Section, Headquarters Company, 11th Infantry Brigade, who sent a letter in March 1969 [A YEAR AFTER THE EVENT] to 30 members of Congress imploring them to investigate - most of whom IGNORED IT.

Had even A PHOTO of the massacre appeared before the 1968 Election, the Vietnam War would have been ended in 1968.

We need JUST ONE Courageous Member of the House or Senate to ENTER that VIDEO INTO THE CONGRESSIONAL Record. In doing so, among many consequences, countless lives will be saved and an ILLEGAL, UNJUST WAR on Venezuela will be avoided.

Are you that Senator?

I hope so.

Thank you for your courageous service,

P.S. I was an Officer in the US Navy and my duty station, in June, 1971, was the Defense Intelligence Agency, Release & Disclosure Division.

Scott can you you send to the Senators directly? My feckless senators in TX do not bother with answering constituents letters, calls or have town halls.

BF Thank you for your letter, Well Said!

OK, I am trying to not use fucking all the time when describing republicans...Ok, I'll just say it: The fucking feckless republican TX senators Cowards do NOTHING for Texans! They came out for a photo op with the sleepy coin-operated conman and are trying to pass a bill to sue Americans for being insurrectionists and now it's crickets, Nada, never to be heard from again! thanks Richard.

Glad to see folks aren’t forgetting the corporate greed that enables crooks like Trump to come into power.

Turns out, people don’t like being called garbage or targeted by federal authorities or being robbed blind by greedy corporations. This is why we resist!

My take on this is that we don’t need “that name” as part of an ear worm, particularly holiday-related. 🎶

I think EVERY fight is worth it Scott. The No Gouge Act is another great idea. To the tune of Rudolf the Reindeer: " DT the big orange blowhard...was a great big gross fucktard..." I may have to finish that now that I've started... lol Thanks Scott

The big corporations have been price gouging since the pandemic. Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg got the supply chain problem solved as quickly as possible. Prices should have come down then.

Scott, AOC is absolutely correct that the large corporations are gouging the consumers. The Trump tariffs provide cover for the price increases since Trump tariffs are so volatile. If I were to write a poem about the Trump Administration, it would be very dark and the title would be “ The Cruelty of Evil Men”.

AOC is standing up for us. The big corporations are making money hand over fist while continually raising prices, and trump is enabling them. We need to break up the monopolies among the companies controlling our food supply.

As for a holiday song, I would use “The Grinch,” but I would make it much more hard core!
