We’ve been running a massive pressure campaign to stop 9 of Trump’s worst cabinet picks, for more than two months now. So it’s great to see Senator Tammy Duckworth go on corporate media, and absolutely slam some of these dangerous nominees.
Duckworth, who sits on the powerful Senate Armed Services Committee, is an American hero. The Senator served in the Iraq War, and is a Purple Heart recipient.
In 2004, Duckworth lost her legs and severely injured her right arm, when her helicopter was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG).
On MSNBC, the Senator said Pete Hegseth is “just not qualified.” Then went on to say Republicans are “trying to shove through his confirmation as quickly as possible, before more news can break of more allegations.” It “speaks to how unfit he is.”
Duckworth also pointed out that Hegseth is “vulnerable” to blackmail: “What if the next woman comes forward while he’s Secretary of Defense, and says...I have the receipts on you and that sexual assault, and I have tape and video?”
Hegseth isn’t the only one the Senator went after. On CNN, Duckworth said that Director of National Intelligence nominee, Tulsi Gabbard, is “compromised.”
Duckworth stated in a video interview with Forbes that Gabbard is “not qualified for the job,” and doubts “she could actually pass a background check.”
And the Senator didn’t hold back when it came to the unhinged pick for FBI Director Kash Patel: “The Senate should reject him.” Duckworth explained that confirming Patel would be a way for Trump to “use federal law enforcement to seek retribution against his political enemies.”
This is exactly the kind of strength every Democrat needs to show right now. They must sound the alarm about the dangers these nominees pose to our country, and do everything they can to stop these confirmations.
Our Watchdog Coalition has already sent more than 122,000 letters to Senators, urging them to oppose these terrible nominees. We’re leading the charge and fighting back against Trump in every way we can, at a constant. But we need all hands on deck.

What do you think about Sen. Duckworth speaking out against these nominees? Do you agree that Gabbard, Hegseth, and Patel are completely unqualified?
