Five Resistance Wins That Ruined Trump’s Weekend (And Made Mine)
Trump lost $83 million, Hegseth was caught lying about the war, and Big Tech got beat badly in South Jersey
People are showing up—in courtrooms, town halls, and jury boxes—and they’re pushing back hard against the Trump regime. That’s what this edition is about.
Hit the ❤️ like button and re-stack this right now. Hegseth was caught in a lie about the Iran war—and people need to hear about it. When you share, someone who might never find this news on their own will see it. That’s how we outrun their spin with the truth.
Since February 2016, I’ve taken on Trump and his accomplices head-on. We do it with no ads and without corporate influence. We’re entirely reader-powered—built for this moment.
Every story you’re about to read was made possible entirely by our paid subscribers. If you aren’t one yet, join us today:
THE PENTAGON IS FULL OF LIES
The Pentagon admitted this week that it spent more than $50 million renaming itself the Department of War—without congressional authorization.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal fired back: “The American people can’t afford groceries, gas, or rent—and the Pentagon has ALREADY wasted $50 million on this. Now they want more money.”
On Wednesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth appeared before Congress alongside Pentagon budget chief Jules Hurst.
Hurst told lawmakers under oath that the Iran war has only cost $25 billion. Hegseth sat right there and never corrected him. After the testimony, US officials leaked to reporters that the real number will be closer to $50 billion.
Hegseth also revealed under questioning that the war was never about an imminent nuclear threat—saying it was about Iran’s “ambitions.” A war over a wish.
Rep. John Garamendi drew the line: “Secretary Hegseth, you have been lying to the American public about this war from day one and so has the president.”
This is exactly why articles of impeachment have been filed on Hegseth.
$83 MILLION, AFFIRMED
Full disclosure: E. Jean Carroll is a friend of mine, so I might be a little biased. Two juries have agreed that Trump assaulted Carroll—one hitting him with $83 million in damages for spending years defaming her.
Trump tried to appeal his way out, but on Wednesday the Second Circuit voted 5 to 3 to shut that down. Judge Denny Chin didn’t flinch, saying Trump left Carroll facing death threats, “and showed no remorse … even proclaiming he would continue to defame her ‘a thousand times.’”
Carroll won. The $83 million judgment stands—as it should.
THE PARKS FOUGHT BACK
Trump nominated Scott Socha to run the National Park Service. Socha is a hospitality executive whose company runs hotels and resorts at national parks across the country, including the Grand Canyon and Yosemite.
The man Trump chose to protect our public lands from corporate exploitation was already cashing checks from a corporation that profits off those same lands.
Conservation groups put the pressure on, calling Socha “deeply unqualified.” Democratic lawmakers pushed back hard. The White House decided to not schedule a congressional hearing after all, and on Monday, they pulled his nomination. Socha said it was for “personal reasons.”
Round one goes to the people who made it impossible to ignore these glaring conflicts of interest.
SOUTH JERSEY BEATS BIG TECH
A developer quietly pushed through a 1.6 million square foot data center project in Monroe Township, New Jersey. Residents found out, and on March 11 they packed the council meeting and demanded local leaders act.
After the massive public outcry, on April 8, the data center was completely stripped from the project. Then on April 22, the council went even further and put an outright ban on all data centers.
Kate Delany of Food & Water Watch was clear: “The people of Monroe Township showed up and spoke up for their farms, their lakes, their open spaces.”
Big Tech picked the wrong township.
CORPORATE MEDIA FAILS US AGAIN
Last year, Trump sued CBS for $10 billion for editing a Kamala Harris interview. CBS’s parent company buckled and gave Trump a $16 million settlement. Shortly after, the FCC—the federal agency that issues licenses to broadcasters—approved CBS’s $8 billion merger deal.
Last week CBS’s 60 Minutes interviewed Trump for 40 minutes, and aired only 13. It was cut, stitched, and rearranged—including a part where Trump bragged about taking CBS’s money.
Corporate media is for sale to the highest bidder—we never will be. We keep up our independence by being reader-funded, and free of any corporate influence.
We’ve driven millions of congressional contacts over the last decade—real people picking up the phone and showing up to pressure their elected officials. We also have one of the largest social media followings in politics. Just yesterday we ran our “Trump’s Gas Crisis” campaign, where it went viral and trended on multiple platforms.
But we need all hands on deck to keep up our momentum. Help us flip Congress in the midterms by becoming a paid subscriber today:
Hit the ❤️ like button and re-stack this right now. Every share puts the truth in front of someone the regime is counting on keeping in the dark. It’s a big part of our fight against Trump’s lies and propaganda.
Onward!
Scott
CBS paid Trump $16 million and then aired only a third of his interview. Should this be considered state media propaganda?
A town in New Jersey stopped a billion-dollar data center with a council meeting and a packed room of residents. What’s stopping every community from doing the same thing?

NEW: Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have announced the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Center Moratorium Act, legislation that would enact a reasonable pause to the development of AI to ensure the safety of humanity.
