A Town Moved A Governor
Residents in Archbald, Pennsylvania, fought planned data centers for over a year. Tammy Misewicz-Healey co-founded Stop Archbald Data Centers, and they packed council meetings and drew Gov. Josh Shapiro to town. This week, Shapiro proved he listened by signing what he called the strictest data center rules in the country.
Sarasota Voters Took Their School Board Back
On Tuesday, former teachers Megan Tennimon and Beth Mayberry won seats on the Sarasota School Board by more than 10 points each. It’s the same school board that penalized students for protesting and pledged to cooperate with ICE. The Moms for Liberty won’t control it anymore.
Walz Slammed The Door On Mining
In April, the regime lifted a 20-year mining ban in Minnesota. That handed Twin Metals a way to dig for copper beside the most visited wilderness in America. On Tuesday, Gov. Tim Walz signed an order halting every new state permit and ordering a review of every existing mineral lease in the watershed.
Families Beat The DOJ For Good
The regime demanded the private medical files of transgender children treated at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Patients and their parents sued, and Chief Judge Cathy Bissoon killed the demand in December. On August 10, the DOJ withdrew its appeal, making her ruling permanent. Not one file left that hospital.
The States Froze A Massive Federal Data Grab
Homeland Security subpoenaed a database holding the names, birth dates, and Social Security numbers of 17 million commercial drivers. The regime said it was for immigration enforcement. More than 20 states sued, and on Friday, Judge Anthony Trenga blocked the demand outright, ruling it violated federal privacy law.
E. Jean Carroll’s Verdict Is Now Permanent
The Supreme Court denied Trump’s rehearing petition on Monday, a step it has not granted anyone since 2018. The jury found he sexually abused and defamed E. Jean Carroll, and that finding now stands with no appeal left. Carroll collected the $5.63 million judgment last month.
Trump’s Endorsement Couldn’t Save Cory Mills
On Tuesday, GOP Rep. Cory Mills lost his Florida primary by 13 points, one of 10 Trump-endorsed candidates to lose a primary this year—as many as lost in 2018, 2020, and 2024 combined. The next morning Trump claimed he’d told Mills to quit and endorsed his opponent. They still kiss the ring, but that doesn’t have the power it used to.
A Trump Plus-Eighteen Seat Just Went Blue
Also on Tuesday, Brandon Dukes beat Republican Scott Timko by 97 votes in the race for Pennsylvania’s 12th House District. It’s a seat Republicans have held since the 1990s, in a district Trump won by 18 points in 2024. Nearly a third of registered voters turned out in the middle of August, and Democrats grew their majority in Harrisburg to 103-100.

One more thing before you go—hit the ❤️ like button and restack this edition. Somewhere out there is a good person who gave up this week, and you might be the one who puts eight reasons not to in front of them.
Onward!
Scott
Which of these eight would you hand to the person who told you this week that nothing ever changes? Drop the number below and tell me why that one.
