This is so fabulous: “Rice said: “If these corporations think that Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to … play by the old rules … they’ve got another thing coming.””

Damned straight!

Peggy Freeman's avatar

Absolutely! Because of him, our politicians are going to have to develop a strong rule book and follow it to the letter! Way to go, Susan Rice! She definitely hit the mark because he pitched his toddler tantrum and issued an ultimatum to Netflix to make them fire her!

marcia schulz's avatar

This is very good news. It shows how corporate billions affect congress.I am saddened however, by the reluctance of House Dems to support HJR 54, the WE The People Amendment, despite the hard and very persistent work by Move To Amend

Peggy Freeman's avatar

The only argument I have heard about this is that the supreme court ruled in favor of Citizens United and this is why House Dems are reluctant to support it. Citizens United MUST be abolished!

marcia schulz's avatar

That may be the case & it has been debated. It's a start & better than nothing but more than that is hoped for. HJR 54 will affect people's lives in a direct sense, not only by removing huge financial benefits to corporations via the 14th amendment but also particularly relevant now the 1st(free speech), 4th (search & seizure!!) & 5th (due process, taking of private property) The time for that is right now. https://assets.nationbuilder.com/movetoamend/pages/752/attachments/original/1585063341/Corporate_Hijacking_of_the_5th_Amendment.pdf?1585063341

marcia schulz's avatar

I hope you are right,Wis.HJR 54, the We The People Amendment, removes ALL Constitutional rights from corporations as human persons.Currently in the House,70 of 214 Dems signed (3 vacancies),NOT ONE republican.Originally sponsored in 2023 by Rep.Jayapal, she reintroduced it in 2025 with slightly more ease.MUCH more powerful than Citizens United ($ = free speech) https://www.movetoamend.org/corporate-constitutional-rights

Jimmy Carter said one of the most regrettable events in history was the passing of the law making corporations into single persons, legally. A travesty. When we get back the house and senate, let’s make reversing that a priority! Yay Jayapal!

marcia schulz's avatar

That would be SOOOOOO awesome.

Cheryl Jones-Head's avatar

I love how now everybody just refers to it as “the regime”🤣🤣

Scott Dworkin's avatar

It took a bit for folks to understand what I meant, I think we started saying that in November :)

Wis's avatar

Me too!! 👏👏👏

Patricia Davis's avatar

I liked ‘The Epstein Class’ too

Cathy R's avatar

I have been using regime but I do think "Epstein Class" is a better descriptor

Sam Jones's avatar

Mondays are starting to feel different for the resistance. There's an energy, a hum—like an engine warming up. The frustration, hope, anxiety, and determination gives me butterflies in my stomach. The march is coming to a head, and I am so ready for this. Onward, as Scott says.

Theodora's avatar

Onward!

Connie Adler's avatar

Absolutely! The repayment money should come from the Trump family personal profit from government activities that send profits to the family, not to the government

BARBARA BLUMBERG's avatar

Let’s take a breath and get real here. Regimes do not issue refunds. The amount of time in litigation this could take are just beyond anything realistic. There are more urgent battles which must be fought.

As for the grift, it was all done in the light of day and the putrid party in place had no problem sitting back and hoping to get some of their own gifts of grift. Just a look at their 70 million dollar luxury planes they use for personal travel, etc, is most telling. The regime has rewards which keeps them silent.

It’s past due time for the Dems to come up with a platform/template which they really have not done since the time of Clinton. Take out the constant bleeding heart issues, they are tired and the general public cannot cash those issues in at the grocery store. People are hemorrhaging and bandaids aren’t the answer. Shout out fixing the economy, crime, healthcare, supporting our allies, accountability, and issues which affect the masses. Once elected, do the right thing and continue the fight for issues which impact the lives of chastised groups. Until there is a platform of strength for the masses and unity within the Party itself, winning will be a difficult battle. Whew!

David A Pitock's avatar

The lawyers will make money 💰 and we won't get a dime back.

marcia schulz's avatar

The graft has been forever on both sides of the aisle, just more blatantly open and expansive.Doing the right thing will mean necessitate getting billionaires' money out of politics and as I noted in my post above, it's not happening easily in the Democratic House, so yeah.... a really difficult road ahead unless people stay strong and committed to meaningful change (that part IS encouraging)

Jay Jay Eh's avatar

I still think Pritzker’s move there was a good public acknowledgment of what SHOULD happen, and the current admin’s moral & legal responsibility to ‘the people’, and the unnecessary suffering it caused.

— WAY too much Trumplican stuff gets swept away because ‘it’s just not feasible’ due to a) Trump’s firehose MO of flooding the zone with numerous illegalities;

b) Trump & GOP’s obvious unwillingness to negotiate *anything in good faith.

AAM's avatar

The Dems can and should focus on the areas you suggest. They can and should still be bleeding hearts, as they have for a long time. To be clear, if by "bleeding heart" you mean "woke", LGBTQIA+ folks don't get left behind.

And Dems can and MUST dispassionately listen to everyone. The ugly *behaviors* of racism and sexism must be rejected but not *people*. If the Dems want to govern everyone, they must show they are able to.

Jane Ward's avatar

Trump’s theme song continues to be “If You Don’t, I Will.” Problem is Americans like Gov. Pritzker and all the other Democratic governors are standing together singing a unified “Up Yours, Trump!” I’m proud of every American who is fighting to preserve our country.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

lol good one Jane!

Cheryl Jones-Head's avatar

FOUR BILLION DOLLARS in one year!!! This is disgusting!!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Imagine if Biden....

Janice Davis's avatar

Yes, and the refund should come from his corruption billions!

Susan Niemann's avatar

Where are the MAGA folks on all this profiteering? I would love to have a reasonable conversation (if thats even possible) and ask them if they like paying for this "president" to make obscene amounts of money while they cant afford to see a damned doctor. WHAT is wrong with these people???? Be a conservative if you must, but don't be a criminal.

djw's avatar

I'm guessing Faux Noose isn't telling them about it or they're framing it so it looks like he's "pwning the libs", so it's all hunky-dory with them. They don't realize he's grafting it right out of their pockets.

Megan Ross's avatar

Exactly. Most MAGAts only consume far-right-wing media, so they most likely don't have a clue about TRump's crimes.

Rosann's avatar

Yes! They think he’s a saint, donating his salary. SMH

My Fl SS (Sycophant Senator) Mayfield introduced the airport naming bill.I call her and email often.Part of my last email.⬇️

I’m also appalled that you proposed 5 million in the budget to rename Palm Beach Airport after the president. That money could have been so much better utilized in Palm Beach County.Perhaps funneled to non-profits who are working to house and feed residents struggling under the current economy.

You also introduced the airport naming bill that essentially enabled the president to profit off his name with trademarks. Please don’t tell me he won’t be doing so……we’ve all seen the enormous grift that has benefited the president and his family under this administration. We The People are paying dearly for that grift.

Susan Niemann's avatar

Excellent letter. I’ve had people say it won’t make a difference but we have to try. We can’t just lay down for the obvious criminality occurring.

Kathy's avatar

Exactly,Susan! Every.Action.Counts.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

It is a game I play where I say Biden did all the things Trump is doing and then ask for their take. Then say oops that's all Trump it's sad but proof it's a cult

Jamie Fields's avatar

💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE! PLEASE RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES AND READ THE NAMES OUT LOUD! PLEASE!

Chris C's avatar

I always frame this kind of news in the same way; what would Republicans do if this was Biden??????!!!!!!! They would LOSE their fucking minds!!!!!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

OMG they would be screaming TREASON

James Mellema's avatar

They've already lost whatever little their minds contain, almost with anything resembling honor or cred. You can't shine shit, don't even try.

Kim Nesvig's avatar

Trump deserves many more extremely bad days.

Megan Ross's avatar

I wake up everyday hoping to hear of TRump's demise. Every. Day.

Me, too. I know I may go to hell for wishing another dead, but figure he isn't really a human being in any meaningful sense, so it becomes a relatively minor sin - Right?

Linda N's avatar

Every dollar that every Trump grifted must be recaptured and used to repair the damage they have done to this government and this country. Ditto every Trump hanger-on. I hope someone is keeping s rolling tally — Trump is on the verge of awarding himself $10 billion in “damages” from the Treasury as recompense for legal actions taken against him, and he has taken another $10 billion from the Treasury for his so-called Board of Peace.

Neal Katyal argued the tariff case before SCOTUS. He said Sara Albrect of the Liberty Justice Center, conservative lawyer and lead plaintiff (she voted for 😡 3x )was the mastermind of the case. It will be interesting to see if they’re able to succeed.

Sign up to receive updates as refund information becomes available.

Project TERRA is a Liberty Justice Center initiative to help small businesses with a straightforward roadmap to recover unlawful tariff payments. Right now, we are gathering contact information and will move fast to help businesses get what is rightfully theirs.

Questions?

Send us an email at tariffs@libertyjusticecenter.org.

Cathy R's avatar

Has $10 billion replaced tariff as his new favorite word?

Margot's avatar

There needs to be legal and financial consequences for stealing from taxpayers. 4 billion is a lot of money! Small businesses and Americans etc definitely deserve a refund for illegal tarrifs. You can through in just finish installing the bridge from Canada to Michigan while you are at it.

Charyl A Wilkins's avatar

And so it should be! Lets hope the Republicans in congress will grow a spine for their country, for our democracy and our constitution. There is NO OTHER WAY FORWARD! THE PEEOPLE WILL HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE!

AAM's avatar

I wonder if some among them are in the Epstein files.
