Thanks for taking the time to read my daily Great News report. I’m glad you’re here on this fine Wednesday! Today, I’m featuring some prime examples of people pushing back against this tyranny—more proof that we definitely aren’t alone in our fight against the Trump regime. Let’s get to it.
Next week, Pete Buttigieg will hit the road for a Veterans-focused town hall in Iowa, co-hosted by VoteVets Action Fund. Buttigieg, who served as an intelligence officer in the Navy for more than 8 years, is an excellent choice for the event. It’s always inspiring to see Pete in action, standing up for democracy.
I came across an ad from The Washington Post yesterday, where they boasted about the Pulitzer Prize win of famed cartoonist Ann Telnaes in a pitch for subscribers. Telnaes left the paper earlier this year, after they refused to run her drawing criticizing owner Jeff Bezos. If anything, the award should make folks subscribe to Telnaes’ Substack.
Democrats—led by Rep. Maxine Waters and others—walked out of a cryptocurrency hearing yesterday, which led to it being shut down. Waters said she objected “because of the corruption of the president of the United States and his ownership of crypto and his oversight of all the agencies.”
Waters is right. Trump and his family have made nearly $3 billion off cryptocurrency in the last 6 months, with the potential for billions more this year. Just imagine if Biden or Obama ever pulled a stunt like this. How would Republicans react?
On Capitol Hill, GOP Sen. Thom Tillis announced he’d vote no on Trump cult member and US Attorney for DC nominee Ed Martin. As a result, Majority Leader John Thune says Martin’s nomination probably won’t make it through for a full floor vote. A good move from Tillis, but he’s exactly why we have folks like Hegseth in power now. He should be voted out in 2026.
Trump made a fool out of himself again yesterday, this time during an Oval Office meeting with Canada’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney. Trump started ranting about Canada becoming a 51st state, to which Carney replied: “There are some places that are never for sale...it's not for sale. It won't be for sale, ever.”
A pair of lawyers who left the Trump-controlled DoJ, Clayton Bailey and Jessica Merry Samuels, have launched the Civil Service Law Center “to combat the Trump Administration's unprecedented efforts to dismantle the federal government.” The new law firm will represent “displaced federal workers in federal court.”
A federal judge halted the Trump regime’s attempt to close three smaller, but important, federal agencies. The judge declared that Trump’s order “ignores the unshakable principles that Congress makes the law and appropriates funds.” The judge had to educate Trump and his lawyers on checks and balances at a basic, Schoolhouse Rock-level. Fitting.
Another federal judge ordered the Trump regime to admit 12,000 refugees to the US. Judge Jamal Whitehead wrote this about the DoJ’s take on a very clear court order: “It requires … hallucinating new text that simply is not there.” Whitehead called it, “to put it mildly, ‘interpretive jiggery-pokery’ of the highest order.”
In an appearance on CNN, Dem Rep. Jasmine Crockett said: “In this moment we need people that are unafraid and willing to go after this administration for the good of the entirety of the country.”
And that’s exactly why we formed The Watchdog Coalition—our activism arm that mobilizes our massive Contact Congress campaigns, and our unmatched social media efforts.
