No Guard, No Golf, No Excuses—Trump’s Shutdown Implodes As Dems Deliver For Workers, Demand Accountability, and Build Momentum In Virginia
The resistance stands tall
As we catch our breath and prepare for another week of Trump’s madness, I’m grateful to bring you good news this Sunday. The stories I have today include enormous wins, proof of big momentum, and defiant voices who will never back down.
If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll sign up as a paid subscriber today. Your support makes us stronger, and helps us continue leading the resistance against Trump:
Let’s jump in.
TRUMP BLOCKED
Late yesterday, a Trump-appointed federal judge temporarily blocked the regime from deploying the National Guard to Portland, Oregon. The order—in place for at least two weeks—is an enormous win for America, and an even bigger loss for Trump.
In her ruling, the judge called out the regime for lying about what’s really happening in Portland, and wrote: “This country has a longstanding and foundational tradition of resistance to government overreach … This is a nation of Constitutional law, not martial law.”
A STRONG DISSENT
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson didn’t hold back when dissenting from a reckless Supreme Court decision—which allows the Trump regime to strip legal protections from more than 300,000 Venezuelan immigrants.
Calling it “another grave misuse” of the Court’s emergency docket, Jackson said they are once again “privileging the bald assertion of unconstrained executive power over countless families’ pleas for the stability our Government has promised them.”
Jackson wrote: “I cannot abide our repeated, gratuitous, and harmful interference with cases pending in the lower courts while lives hang in the balance, I dissent.”
VIRGINIA COULD FLIP
I always take polls with a grain of salt, but a new WaPo/Schar School poll shows Dem Rep. Abigail Spanberger holding a 12-point lead in the race for Virginia Governor.
The roughly 139,000 federal workers in Virginia who are hurting from Trump’s shutdown could certainly help tilt the scales further for Democrats.
JOHNSON STALLS EPSTEIN VOTE
Dem Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva is calling out Mike Johnson for keeping the House in recess, once again delaying her swearing in.
Grijalva stated: “Still playing games with my swearing-in date? The people of Southern Arizona deserve a voice in Congress NOW. What are Republicans so afraid of? One more vote for accountability.”
Dem Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez went even further, saying: “The government is in full shutdown and the Republicans are refusing to call the House back into session … Because we have secured the final vote on releasing the Epstein Files.” Absolutely. Release the files!
NEWSOM BACKS WORKERS
CA Gov. Gavin Newsom slammed Trump for golfing during the shutdown. Newsom said: “I hope we can find a compromise. But it’s difficult to do that with a guy who seems more interested in playing golf over the weekend.” So true.
And unlike Trump, Newsom actually helps people. On Friday, he signed a bill into law that allows more than 800,000 Uber and Lyft drivers in California to unionize. Newsom said it’s about drivers’ “dignity and a say about their future.”
PETE ON SHUTDOWN
Pete Buttigieg spoke loud and clear about Trump’s shutdown, declaring: “You’ve got [Trump] and a Republican Congress who would rather see the entire government shut down than allow Americans to afford their healthcare.”
Buttigieg says the GOP is “happy to see the federal government destroyed. They’re giddy about being able to do even more damage ... That’s exactly the kind of chaos [Trump] brings every single day.”
Pete’s right. And that’s why I’ve been fighting Trump for nearly a decade—there’s no way I’m stopping now.
We run one of the most powerful social media efforts ever against Trump—which generated more than a billion impressions just this week. And our massive campaign to Contact Congress has reached lawmakers more than half a million times!
These pivotal moments are exactly what our movement was built for, and right now we need all hands on deck.
So if you haven’t yet, I hope you’ll support our fight against the Trump regime by joining us as a paid subscriber today:
Onward!

If trump could golf every day and it not cost millions of dollars at a time, I’d much rather prefer to keep him there.
