Judge Rules Trump Can Be Held Liable For Jan 6, The Pope Rebukes The Regime By Name, and MAGA’s Church Weaponization Scheme Gets Crushed
Plus, Veterans launch a massive new ad campaign against House Republicans
The resistance is winning. This week proved it. Courts held the line, Democrats went on offense, and the world pushed back. The regime lost ground on every front and couldn’t stop any of it.

The Dworkin Report has been documenting the fight against Trump—and helping lead it—for a decade. I helped uncover his Russia scandal, ran the first impeachment campaign, and have been in the fight since day one. We publish reader-funded journalism that has driven 672,000 contacts to Congress since the 2024 election. And we’ve done it all without ever running a single ad, bowing to corporate interests, or giving the regime an inch.

A BIG COURT RULING AGAINST TRUMP
More than five years after the attack on the Capitol, a federal judge ruled that Trump can be held personally liable for what happened that day.
US District Judge Amit Mehta rejected Trump’s claim that his Ellipse speech and social media posts on Jan 6 were official presidential acts shielded by immunity. Mehta found the rally was “an unofficial act of an office-seeker,” clearly organized and attended largely by Trump’s campaign—not the White House. Mehta had rejected the garbage First Amendment argument once before, but Trump tried again anyway.
Rep. Eric Swalwell, one of the Democratic lawmakers who filed the lawsuit and has pursued it for five years, didn’t hold back: “This case is for my colleagues, the brave Capitol Police officers, Americans everywhere, and the future of our nation. Those who incited and fueled the violence must be held responsible.”
Attorney Joe Sellers explained what this means: “For the first time in our nation’s history, a court has determined—based on the evidentiary record—that a president may be held personally liable for harms caused while in office.”
Trump tried to bury the case. It’s going to trial.
NO ENDORSEMENTS FROM CHURCHES
The regime tried to give Tony Perkins a midterm weapon. He runs the Family Research Council, one of DC’s most powerful evangelical lobbying groups. Perkins had been organizing thousands of pastors for midterm endorsements—a coordinated operation that would have turned Sunday sermons into campaign rallies.
The Johnson Amendment has kept churches out of elections since 1954. Trump’s DOJ tried to gut it by cutting a back-door deal with the IRS to stop enforcing it entirely. On Tuesday, a Trump-appointed federal judge threw the deal out. That's how bad this scheme was.
TULSI GABBARD WAITS FOR HER EXIT
Kristi Noem is out as DHS Secretary, Pam Bondi is out as Attorney General, and now Tulsi Gabbard may be next to hear Trump say: “You’re fired.”
Gabbard has spent her time as Director of National Intelligence doing Trump’s dirty work. She fired officials who made assessments Trump didn’t like, purged career staff, and revoked security clearances of critics and former intelligence officials.
Then it backfired. Gabbard drafted her March congressional testimony in coordination with the CIA. What she said undercut the regime’s rationale for the Iran war: Iran was not building a nuclear weapon. Trump publicly said she was wrong and then authorized strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.
Trump has privately asked cabinet officials whether he should replace her, furious that she protected her deputy Joe Kent—who resigned in protest, saying Iran posed no imminent threat.
Gabbard knew the rules when she took the job she was never qualified for. Do Trump’s dirty work, or get fired. She did the dirty work. Ask Noem and Bondi how that ends.
THE POPE SPEAKS OUT
Four days before Palm Sunday—the Sunday before Easter—Pete Hegseth stood at a Pentagon worship service and prayed for “overwhelming violence of action against those who deserve no mercy.” He carried a Bible stamped with “Deus Vult,” which is Latin for “God wills it.” It was a Crusader battle cry. In the Pentagon. In 2026.
Pope Leo XIV—the first American-born pope in history—responded. He said Christian leaders who start wars should go to confession and called for a ban on military airstrikes. Then he called out Trump by name, urging him to end the war.
The Pope told 1.4 billion Catholics: “[God] does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, but rejects them.”
MIDTERMS ARE COMING
Campaign season never ends in America, and right now that works in the resistance’s favor. Seven months out from the midterms, Democrats are going on offense, hitting Republicans hard on the Iran war.
VoteVets Action Fund, a leading progressive Veterans organization, launched a $250,000 ad campaign this week going straight at Rep. Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin. It’s the first time this year the group has gone after a Republican Veteran member of Congress.
In the ad, the Veteran on screen doesn’t mince words, calling out Van Orden directly: “We’re paying the cost every damn day for this war in Iran. He’s going for another $200 billion to spend on Iran. This is the same guy who backed big cuts to VA care for Vets. If we don’t have the money to take care of our Veterans, we damn sure can’t afford another war.”
Van Orden won his last race by only three points over Rebecca Cooke, who’s running again. He’s just the opening act. The rest of the map is coming.
The resistance runs on people who refuse to let the truth get buried.

I have two questions for you today.
What do you think about Pope Leo XIV specifically calling out Trump?
Thoughts on the continued ban on endorsements from churches?
