Kevin McCarthy is part of the mess that Trump left when he was booted from the White House.
It’s sad for America that we have to deal with this nonsense, when there are so many other pressing issues. But it’s not sad to see Kevin go. Take a moment and celebrate the fact that Kevin McCarthy is gone. Even though whoever is next will probably be worse.
Yet, when we really think about it, McCarthy leaving is devastating for Republican re-election efforts. At this moment they have no one leading the fundraising charge for GOP House campaigns. That’s a good thing for all of us.
And don’t let anyone act like McCarthy is some innocent bystander. He lied about the Jan 6 attack. He supported this fraudulent impeachment. He’s helped spread propaganda.
The red flags on how horrible McCarthy would be were always there. Two incidents stick out to me.
McCarthy continuously disrespected Capitol Police, like that time he “thanked” them by with Chick-fil-A:
Yes, that picture is very real.
Not to mention the time Grant Stern was hurt after being dragged out of a presser, because Grant asked McCarthy why he didn’t support the bipartisan commission to investigate Jan 6. This was how McCarthy reacted—head down trying to ignore while Grant was pulled out of the presser. Grant was a credentialed member of the press that day.
It’s not the Democrat’s fault McCarthy was voted off the island. That is the Republican party’s own doing. They are eating themselves, as one would expect.
At the end of the day McCarthy being removed as Speaker looks to be one of the major reasons Republicans will lose the House in a little over a year from now. So, I’m thankful for McCarthy’s removal, for now.
All of this should serve as a reminder to vote, volunteer and do everything we can to ensure Dems hold the White House, Senate and win back the House.
Or else we may not end up with just someone worse than McCarthy running the House. It could be Trump in the White House, again. And there are few things more terrifying than that.
Kevin...Kevin...Kevin. Don’t you remember! Be careful what you wish for...you just might get it. And you did. After 15 rounds. After making concessions to the bulldog bully, Matt Gaetz. And now you’ve lost and made a whole bunch of us happy. Way to go, Kev!
Nailed it Scott. This is completely his fault. And he deserves every bit of it. But the American people deserve better. And the Republicans don’t have anything better to offer. It’s very sad to watch.
