Large Anti-Trump Crowd In Kansas and More Great News
Protests this weekend, Jasmine Crockett slams Karoline Leavitt, and more
With all of Trump’s raging madness, I’m happy to deliver more good news today. I hope it gives you some relief—even if just for a moment. And shows you there are wonderful folks everywhere who are fighting back against this tyranny alongside us.
I have no advertisers and no outside investors—so our work depends on support from readers like you. If you haven’t yet, I hope you’ll join as a paid subscriber today. It makes a big difference:
Let’s jump in.
On Friday, the Women’s March kicks off a “Free America Weekend,” with hundreds of anti-Trump events scheduled across the country. The next big protest is scheduled for July 17, paying homage to the late great John Lewis, who passed on that date in 2020.
Today, there is a day of action planned at more than 3 dozen Home Depots across the US. Volunteers will be distributing “Know Your Rights” leaflets, to make sure people know what rights they have if ever detained by immigration agents.
In Wichita, Kansas, Dem Rep. Maxwell Frost hosted a packed town hall with more than 1,500 people on Sunday morning. It was in the district of GOP Rep. Ron Estes, who refuses to hold his own town hall. Frost is on tour with Dem Sen. Chris Murphy, who joined remotely from DC due to Senate votes on the big evil bill.
“My question is... where is Representative Ron Estes? Where is he? Because I’m here from Orlando,” Frost said. At the end of the event, Frost recorded a video message addressed to Estes, saying his constituents had a question for him. The crowd yelled at the camera: “Where are you?”
More than 300 current and former Environmental Protection Agency employees signed on to a public “Declaration of Dissent,” condemning the Trump regime. They laid out five concerns including how the EPA is “undermining public trust,” by sending out lies to the public, and basically ignoring science in general.
In Alaska, activists staged a peaceful sit-in at one of Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s offices, demanding she vote no on Trump’s evil bill. Meanwhile, dozens of people were arrested while peacefully protesting against the bill in the Capitol yesterday. Lots of folks causing good trouble.
PA Gov. Josh Shapiro slammed Trump’s evil bill, saying he “ran on a platform of cutting the deficit, said he’d never knock anybody off of Medicaid … He’s doing the exact opposite and screwing over … some of the very people that voted for him.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was caught lying to the world again. Leavitt said Trump met with Speaker Mike Johnson and Majority Leader John Thune yesterday regarding the big evil bill. That meeting never happened. It was a lie.
Leavitt also had the gall to say the big evil bill strengthens Medicaid. That’s a lie—the GOP is trying to slash around a trillion dollars from Medicaid.
Dem. Rep. Jasmine Crockett was having none of it, asking: “Is the ‘strength’ in the room with us? ... I’m not quite sure why Karoline thinks gutting care for low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities is something to brag about—but here we are.”
On top of reporting the truth, I also believe it’s our responsibility to fight back against Trump’s tyranny every single day. That’s why we formed our activism arm—The Watchdog Coalition—right after the election.
Our massive Contact Congress campaign has already sent more than 403,000 letters, and made countless calls to the House and Senate. Along with our online organizing efforts like our “Vote No” campaign—which has already generated hundreds of millions of impressions, and dominated social media trends.
We are building some real momentum, but we need all hands on deck.
100% of our funding comes from our paid subscribers on Substack. We have no billionaires controlling what we say, and no sponsors pushing us to sell snake oil. We are completely independent, democracy-loving journalists—who will never back down to Trump.
So if you haven’t yet, and you’re able, please join us as a paid subscriber today:
No matter how you subscribe, thanks for having my back. Rest assured that I’ll always have yours.
Onward!
