Yes, Trump and Vance should be impeached in accordance to Article II, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution along with others in the administration who have committed treason, bribery and other high crimes and misdemeanors.

IMPEACH, REMOVE, AND LOCK THEM UP

Ms Jonington, I notice that we agree on many issues! My answer to Scott's question is both the President and the president in charge of Vice (which he is!) should be impeached, removed and locked up! I notice that the judgement is a lot more impressive in CAPITAL LETTERS!

You really *want* the hapless Mike Johnson to become president? That's who's next in line after the VP: the Speaker of the House.

Expand full comment
TONY's avatar

Not sure I'd call him hapless...someone called him "LITTLE JOHNSON" that seems more appropriate. He lived under a rock in LOUISIANA prior to being SPEAKER.

Can we draw a parallel between the failures of RED STATES (Republican controlled) with the failures of their elected officials?

In each of meaasurable statistics, health care, crime, poverty, education, economic opportunity, these states rank at the bottom of the list. Several promoting that placing the 10 Commandments in classrooms will improve their piss poor educational systems or that teaching Trump's PRINTED IN CHINA OVERPRICED BIBLE will solve their educational failures. Their infant & maternal mortality rates are equivalent to 3rd World countries. Their environmental pollution & destruction caused untolled illness & death. It's no wonder they oppose regulations.

Their economic failures force BLUE STATES to subsidize their failures.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

In general, what we have here is the free states subsidizing the states of the neo-Confederacy -- which, however, never stop yammering about "states' rights." It's also worth noting that many military bases are located in the neo-Confederate states, giving them a boost economically.

TONY's avatar

YES!

Those states have never stopped fighting the CIVIL WAR & carry those policies of HATE & RACISM forward to their detriment that they continue to fight.

It's always "THOSE PEOPLE" who caused their failures.

It worked for the NAZIS.

Few multinational corporations woud risk investment in states that forcus on BATHROOM regulations, Same Sex Marriage, targeting groups...

focusing on those trivial issues allows REPUBLICANS to deflect criticism from their economic failures.

We were recently in a building that had a "ONE SIZE FITS ALL" BATHROOM - closed stall, urinal & diaper changing table - SINGLE OCCUPANCY - with an automatic door accesible for handicapped.

By denying access to the INTERNET, CABLE STATIONS, PBS/NPR or public libraries & limiting information to propaganda outlets like SINCLAIR or FOX NEWS = FAKE NEWS LIARS, ignorance is perpetuated.

Article 2, Section 4. Clean sweep.

Expand full comment
Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Do you think "civil Officers" includes elected members of Congress? I don't. The Speaker of the House (#3 in line) and the President Pro Tem of the Senate (#4) are both elected. Article 2 applies to the executive branch.

I think it applies down through Cabinet officers (Trump's junk drawer), but I'm no expert.

Mike Johnson can be intimated and pressured into following the Constitution. He's Speaker of the House because he is morally and mentally weak. He'll fold before a greater force. Or the billionaires would have him removed before he could become president. But the billionaires and their allies would lose much of their power and control if the orange blight and JD were impeached and arrested.

If he can be intimidated and pressured into following the Constitution, he can also be intimidated into *not* following the Constitution -- which seems to be what's happening now.

Something I've noticed since the advent of Trump II: elected Dems "outside the Beltway," meaning state governors, attorneys general, and secretaries of state, caught on and started acting more quickly than most Democratic members of Congress, notably the congressional leadership. (Need I say that *some* Dems in Congress caught on PDQ, but many of them seemed very tongue-tied.)

Expand full comment
TONY's avatar

Many of the Democratic members of Congress have NEWSLETTERS & were, in fact, speaking out.

Some offfered their criticism differently.

MASSACHUSETTS CONGRESSMAN JIM MCGOVERN was vocal & visible, as were others.

Many offered comments that were publicly available on YOU TUBE.

State legislators were noticeable because they united & filed LAWSUITS & challenges which was their option to oppose illegal acts.

What is more conspicuous is the SILENCE among most MAGA MAGGOTS, except for a deranged few.

Scott, I would like both Trump and Vance to be impeached! However, in our present political climate, I think that is unlikely to happen. The elected GOP Senators lack the moral integrity to vote for their impeachment. However, we must do everything we can to thwart their attempts to destroy our democracy. That means it is necessary to take back the House next November. Then Trump and his entire Administration can look forward to be thoroughly investigated. Kristi Noem needs to get her wardrobe ready for her numerous Congressional grillings.

SOMEONE ELSEWHERE OFFERED THESE NICKNAMES:

Donnie Diddler, Lady Maybelline the Couch Cuddling Ratface, and all the Republikkkraps are handing us their heads on a platter...please, please Dems use this goldmine wisely and savagely.

LADY MAYBELLINE sounds appropriate for DOG KILLER KRISTI NOEM, but questions should be asked about how many JETS she has, her constant faithful companion COREY LEWANDOWSKI & $$$ spent on her promotional ads.

Too busy soliciting input about her promotional photo to address FEMA's failures to address FLOODS killing people?

She never responded appropriately to the claims of her purse being stolen with MEDS in it & too much CASH to be reasonable.

Just another TRUMP UNQUALIFIED INCOMPETENT!
