MSNBC Refused to Air Trump’s Lie-Filled Rant
Mainstream media is starting to listen, let’s get louder
Yesterday Trump went on another angry, lie-filled rant he called a “press conference” for nearly 90 minutes. Complete with props, the unhinged PR stunt was one of Donald’s worst meltdowns to date.
Most of the questions were softballs that allowed Trump to answer by furthering his propaganda and repeating attacks on Kamala Harris. The whole thing seemed rehearsed and the fact that so many networks were covering it at all, is shameful.
But I’m happy to report some very positive things happened that are great wins for our democracy. For one, MSNBC did not air Trump live.
“They’re calling it a news conference,” Nicolle Wallace announced, “and if today’s event is anything like last week’s, then you can understand why we’re choosing not to broadcast it here in real time.”
CNN cut away from the “presser” twice to fact-check Trump. PBS, AP, and others pointed out Donald’s lies after he was finished.
We must constantly be critical of the Press when they fail us, but we should also celebrate them when they make the right decisions. Sure, we need all news orgs to do so much more, but this is a good start.
So thank you MSNBC for not airing Trump’s lies in real time. And thanks to CNN for fact-checking and cutting away from his rambling twice, but next time maybe don’t air him at all.
