News That’s Horrible For Trump
Wins in NY and Louisiana, upcoming protests, AOC speaks out, and more
Our democracy is under attack. The truth is one of the best ways to fight for it. Which is why I’m happy to dig through Trump’s avalanche of lies every single day, and provide you with the facts. Thanks for being here, and happy Sunday. Let’s dive in.
On June 28th, Elon Musk’s birthday is being “celebrated” with protests at Tesla dealerships and showrooms across the world. There are also demonstrations on July 4th, and on July 17th a mass protest is planned to honor the late great John Lewis.
GOP Rep. Harriet Hageman hosted another town hall in Wyoming, and it didn’t go well. Hageman acted shocked when she was booed, and said folks who are concerned about Trump’s big evil bill potentially letting the Trump regime sell federally protected land are being “silly.” No, they aren’t. And we will push against it—hard.
Meanwhile, Dem Rep. Eric Swalwell held a town hall in GOP Rep. Young Kim’s district in California. Swalwell slammed Kim, stating: “She’s been ordered by Republican leadership to not speak to you. You shouldn’t have to pay to go to a fundraiser to talk to your member of Congress. So, to that I say, to hell with her. I’ll show up. I’ll talk to you.”
NY Gov. Kathy Hochul signed legislation yesterday that allows voters to accept food and drinks while waiting in line to vote. It’s beyond ridiculous that any state would outlaw this in the first place. It’s just another clear form of voter suppression.
Hochul said: “Our democracy works best when every eligible voter has a chance to cast their ballot … Providing water to voters waiting in line is a common-sense way to ensure New Yorkers have an easy, safe and secure experience in the voting booth.”
A federal appeals court ruled that Louisiana’s law requiring the Ten Commandments be displayed in all public classrooms, is unconstitutional. “This is a resounding victory for the separation of church and state, and public education,” Heather Weaver of the ACLU stated.
It sure is. What a ridiculous waste of time, money, and energy. Louisiana’s lawmakers should focus on fixing their schools instead, which are ranked #37 in the US.
Mahmoud Khalil finally returned home yesterday—making his way through the airport with his wife, newborn baby, and Dem Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at his side. “Each one of the 104 days he spent detained was a grave injustice,” AOC said.
Sen. Bernie Sanders continued his Fighting Oligarchy tour with a roaring crowd in Shreveport, LA last night—the home of Speaker Mike Johnson. Shortly after, he did another event in Tulsa, OK. He was in McAllen, TX on Saturday.
Sanders learned about Trump’s attack on Iran during his Tulsa speech. After sharing the news with the audience, they immediately broke into a booming chant of “No More Wars!” Sanders then said: “It is so grossly unconstitutional. All of you know it. That the only entity that can take this country to war, is the US Congress. The President does not have the right!”
AOC said Trump’s “disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers … It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.” I agree.
But our biggest focus right now—by far—is pushing back against Trump’s evil budget bill. We won’t let him distract us from that, no matter what. We can walk and chew gum while spinning plates standing on one leg wearing stilts. We’ve done it before.
Our Contact Congress campaign is reaching Senators and Reps. thousands of times a day. And our social media pushes are enormous, generating billions of impressions per month.
