The Middle Finger Heard 'Round the World: Newsom Replaces Trump At UN Summit, As Dems Push Back On 'Giant Betrayal' Shutdown Deal
We’re not negotiating with propaganda—we’re tearing it down
While the Trump regime is doing everything it can to ruin the upcoming holiday season, I’m glad to have more great news for you today. Hopefully it gives you a bit of relief from the madness, even if only for a moment.
Speaking of holidays, Happy Veterans Day! I can’t thank our Veterans and their families enough.
Let’s dive in.
SUPREME REJECTION
Yesterday, the Supreme Court declined to hear a case that sought to challenge the constitutionality of marriage equality. CEO of Lambda Legal, Kevin Jennings, said it “affirmed what we all know: marriage equality is the law of the land … This is a victory not only for the LGBTQ+ community, but for everyone.”
GRIJALVA TO BE SWORN IN
It was confirmed that after a long wait, Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva will finally be sworn into Congress.
Slamming the bogus deal to end the shutdown, Grijalva stated: “While I am eager to get to work, I am disappointed that one of my first votes will be on a bill that does nothing to protect working people ... or do anything significant to rein in Trump’s abuse of power.”
MOST DEMS AREN’T HAVING IT
Like Grijalva, most Dems are furious about the shutdown deal—as they should be. After the measure passed, Dem Sen. Mark Kelly made an appearance on MSNBC—where he repeatedly declined to voice his support for Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Kelly instead talked about how the fight for ACA subsidies is not over.
Dem Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is one of seven Democrats who voted yes with Republicans. Her daughter, Dem House candidate Stefany Shaheen, condemned the deal, saying: “I cannot support this ... We need to both end this shutdown and extend the ACA tax credits. Otherwise, no deal.”
Dem Rep. Pramila Jayapal said: “Caving on a deal that doesn’t fix health care is, and always has been, a giant betrayal of the American people.”
And at a UN event, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said: “Some of my colleagues … just decided we’re playing by the old set of rules and may have rolled over … Right now we’ve got to hold the line, because I think America will become unrecognizable in a year or two unless we fight back.”
NEWSOM IN BRAZIL
Speaking of Newsom, as I reported earlier, he essentially replaced Trump at the UN Climate Summit in Brazil this week. Newsom slammed Trump for not caring enough to even send “a note-taker.”
“I’m stunned,” Newsom forcefully said. “The hell is going on in my country? Not one person from the administration shows any respect to any of you … Instead, middle finger with 50% tariffs. That’s shameful.”
AOC ON A LEADER’S WORD
Dem Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered a clear rebuke to those who decided to bow to Trump’s ridiculous shutdown deal. “People want us to hold the line for a reason,” AOC said. “This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives. Working people want leaders whose word means something.”
Absolutely. We should all only support those who deliver on the promises that they’ve made, and people who will never ever bend the knee to Trump. The recent elections overwhelmingly proved that.
So we will continue fighting back, just like we have for the last decade. Our daily news briefs are shared with millions of people on the biggest social media platforms—as we break out of the echo chamber, and make sure we’re not just preaching to the choir.
We’ve reached lawmakers more than a million times since we started our Contact Congress effort. While our social media campaigns continue to dominate the trends and generate billions of impressions monthly.
But right now we need all the help we can get, in order to keep going full speed ahead. So if you haven’t yet, please become a paid subscriber today:
Onward!

I have two questions for you today.
Do you think Democrats need new leadership in the Senate?
Is there someone you are celebrating on Veterans Day today?

Today we are focused on these three actions:
Pass the bipartisan Epstein Files Transparency Act: https://tinyurl.com/3yfw2m7a
Demand answers about Trump’s visibly deteriorating health: https://tinyurl.com/sk9xm38v
Pass bill on unmasking ICE and displaying clear ID here: https://tinyurl.com/bp8cau82
Chuck Schumer needs to go. Like yesterday.
