When Americans were looking for answers following the tragic plane crash, Donald was asking ridiculous questions, and spreading bogus conspiracy theories on social media.
He then held a “press conference,” where he lied incessantly, and tried to pin the blame on Obama, Biden, DEI hires, and Pete Buttigieg. Trump also lied, acting like Pete was still the Secretary of Transportation.
Pete was having absolutely none of it. He called the remarks “despicable,” and said Donald “should be leading, not lying.”
Buttigieg then slammed Trump for firing and suspending “key personnel who helped keep our skies safe.” And he pointed out that the Biden administration “grew Air Traffic Control, and had zero commercial airline crash fatalities.”
The world may never know how much Trump’s reckless mismanagement, and pushing out of the FAA administrator, contributed to the crash itself.
But what we do know is—unlike Trump—Pete Buttigieg always rises to the occasion. He displays the leadership and backbone America desperately needs.
It’s been reported Pete is strongly considering running for the open senate seat in Michigan, something Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she’s not interested in.
If Democrats are going to win back the House and Senate in 2026, this is exactly the type of dynamic strength required to take on Trump. I hope he runs.
We will continue to lead the charge against Trump and his cult members, and we’re still working hard to stop Donald’s most unhinged remaining cabinet nominees. Our Watchdog Coalition has already sent more than 134,000 letters to Senators opposing the worst of them—and we’re not stopping now.
As independent, pro-democracy journalists, we will never back down to Trump. And as always, we will keep delivering the truth to you, every single day.

Pete Buttigieg is the best communicator we have, hands down. I hope to her more from him as he goes from mayor to secretary to senator and who knows, maybe president.
