Grifting to turn grief into grievance, manipulating the many’s mourning, Donald Trump solicits rage that he can exploit for violence. He does not seek to quench the Nation’s anger, he seeks to inflame the moment, stoking the fire. It is he and Kirk that traded in violent rhetoric. They monetized it like the money changers they are. They gaslighted the rest of us when a fire breaks out, and they simultaneously fanned those flames while pouring the gasoline on the fire. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/bilious-hate-mongering?r=3m1bs

This is exactly how they responded to the shooting last July. Hate, dog whistles, declaring war on the “left.”

Little do they know that only makes us push back even harder against their unhinged cult.

And the shooter last July turned out to be one of their own, as was the would-be shooter apprehended at the golf course a few weeks later.

I'm wondering about the sound of crickets when three Minnesota legislators were murdered and a fourth wounded not so very long ago. A national scandal is the essence of every murderous and so very frequent act of gun violence, no matter who the culprit is, why they did it, or any other distinct feature of their being.

Violence is NEVER the solution, and it's certain that some of those college students who were in that audience a few days ago will be dealing with PTSD for a long time.

I do not condone violence, but I am appalled at the sickening "sweet washing" of this man and his monstrous ideology. He unleashed years of rage and vitreol and it came back round to him. Karma never forgets an address. CK supported what happened to CK.

Kirk was a hate monger speaking to America's younger voters...People like him should be in a cage. I'm happy he is gone. It's like saying you feel bad for Hitler. Trump is pissed he found out the shooter is from a staunch White Christian background that they vote Republican

Expand full comment
Richard Waddell's avatar

Is that true about the shooter? I have not put in the time to follow this story yet.

What difference should it make about the shooter's ideology speaks to a huge part of the 'gun violence' problem: that it is no big deal under some circumstances, but

in other circumstances it is the green light to spew hate and venom.

It normally would not make a difference, but Trump et al immediately blamed the crazy left.....I find in fascinating. This is the second person on the right who has lashed out. The guy in Palm Beach who tried to kill Trump on his golf course is a Repukelkin and goes on trial soon. Too bad he missed.

Of course MAGA is screaming for retribution, it’s how they roll. With regard to Trump’s face, looks like he’s having mini strokes which might necessitate having to take blood thinners (hence the bruised hand from intravenous line infiltration and hematoma). I mean if the guy is going to pop adderall during an outdoor match, he’s likely abusing it, possibly with poorly treated hypertension including kidney disease, hence the edema. I could be way off but we do see him actually decomposing before our eyes.

Perhaps it will happen on his daily obsession with the media!

He is taking Adderall? They don't prescribed that when there are heart or possible stroke issues or afib. Someit is used in low doses for depression. But normally it is for ADHD.

Expand full comment
Mike Hammer's avatar

There’s a large consensus of physicians who believe he has been taking adderall and benzodiazepines and not as prescribed, rather taken on “as needed basis” which is never a good idea with those meds.

Republicans are protecting themselves. I am convinced that few of them give a damn about anyone other than themselves. Liars, hypocrites, drunk on power right now.

Agree with Anna. The Trump supporters aren’t terrified by Trump; they are like him, sharing his greed, pettiness, and cruelty. They are part of the cult.

The reason that the republicans won’t release the Trump/Epstein files is because many of them are in the files both disgusting republicans democrats and donors It is so obvious We only need the survivors list and a good leak

Now that they found the guy (and it looks like they have), can Democrats focus back to the task at hand and getting to the bottom of the Epstein file scandal instead of dropping the flag half mast to honor the guy who called for a "patriot" to post bail money for the right wing thug who bashed in Paul Pelosi's head in his own home?

Robinson, the guy now in custody, should, if the actual shooter, center his defense on the fact that Kirk called for the release of the Epstein files.

Some statistics: 429 domestic extremist-related killings 2015-2024

Right-Wing extremism 76%

Left-Wing extremism 4%

Islamist extremism 18%

other 1%

Rightwingers however do not understand the concept of percentages.

Or true facts at all. I heard a follower of CK use the term 'truth teller' as to why she liked what he said. I have never heard or read any of it, because as r.w. extremism it's likely to be variations of what I've heard or read elsewhere. 'Truth teller' seems to have some kind

of extremist sound to it - and I may be all wrong with that.

too many people equate assertive presnetation with speaking the truth; that is how we got a reality TV personality as president. For them truth is performative, and the actual definition of “truth” is lost.

Republicans have completely lost their minds to cover for Trump or for anyone for anything. This will not turn out well for them. Lying for others never does. These people have obliterated the oath that they took.

In response to your question, I believe Republicans are protecting Epstein instead of his survivors because that’s what they are “told” to do by this regime. God forbid, they use their own judgment & sense of right & wrong. They care about their Congressional seats above all. If they would just all band together for what is correct, they don’t need to fear for their jobs or their safety. Safety in numbers applies here, but they’re too cowardly to do it. Just 🐑 sheep.

Thanks, Scott, for the good news and for fighting for what’s right in our democracy.

Anyone can contact Schumer as the Senate Minority Leader, you don’t have to be in New York. The Dems need to go for a government shutdown instead of a continuing resolution if they don’t restore Medicaid, demand ICE agents’ ID and no masks among many other stipulations. Certainly more to come on this in the coming days.

It’s always so lame when he salutes (vs. hand over heart). He never served, he doesn’t care about anyone who does serve. The closest he’s ever come to military is the honorary role the President has.
