I'm amazed and encouraged that Orbán seems to be leaving voluntarily. It's hard to imagine Putin doing likewise, at least not with a hard push from his inner circle.
What a lovely Mother's Day gift, all the good news especially about Ukraine. Despite Trump's best efforts to assist Putin, the Russians are losing, 343k dead! Between 1m and 1.2m total casualties! There are an awful lot of Russian mothers who aren't celebrating today.
Most people I speak with about Trumpfuhrer recall how many times they have believed that he was down and on his way out, only to see hm not only survive, but actually grow stronger. So for them and many others it’s a “I’ll believe it when I see it” attitude!
I have to admit, I agree with these folks, Larry - I have had high hopes dashed so many times with trump, I’m skeptical and cynical now. Trump has such a bromance hardon for Putin, I’ve been vaguely curious if he has an actual crush on him; I’m concerned what trump will do to save his potential post-Melania bride (though his love for Putin is unrequited). Will he go after Ukraine with our own depleted, exhausted military (of course, without consulting congress)? Will he send billions of dollars to Putin that we don’t have? (Our national debt is now almost $40 TRILLION, and is growing by over $7 billion every DAY!)
Anyway, I just hope the citizens of both of our countries WIN and put these vicious dictators on trial for treason, and about a gazillion other crimes against humanity.

Trump's apparent strength depends on the craven cowardice of the congressional Republicans and, propping them up, the influence of the billionaire, mega-multimillionaire, and corporate donors and supporters. I'm more than a little shocked that they've let it get this bad -- perhaps because there's no heir apparent capable of taking over, so the most likely alternative includes Democratic majorities in both House and Senate and, on January 20, 2029, a Democrat in the White House. Not a pretty vision for the oligarchs.
