Raskin Launches Investigation Into Trump’s Edited Interview, Habba Resigns In Disgrace, Virginia Could Deliver Dem House Gains, and LA Unmasks ICE
The resistance won’t back down
It’s only Tuesday, and I don’t know about you, but I’ve already had more than enough of the Trump regime for the week. So I sure am glad to have more great news for you today, to give you some relief from the chaos.
Thanks for being here. Let’s jump in.
VIRGINIA REDISTRICTING
Virginia Democrats are joining the redistricting fight, giving them the potential to gain two to four Congressional seats in the 2026 midterms. House Speaker Don Scott said: “We didn’t want to have to do this. This was done because Donald Trump told Texas, Indiana, North Carolina—our neighbors—to rig their elections.”
GROUP FIGHTING RAIDS
In North Carolina, the group Siembra NC has been helping business owners and members of the community legally push back against Trump’s immigration abuses. They’ve provided business trainings, educational videos, and other resources to make sure people know their rights and how best to respond if they are confronted by federal agents.
So when ICE moved into North Carolina cities, many folks were ready—as businesses throughout the state displayed signs that read “Private Area,” “Fourth Amendment Workplace,” and “There’s always room at our table, but to enter past this point, we’ll need to see a warrant signed by a judge.”
UNMASKING ICE
The LA County Board of Supervisors is also pushing back against the regime’s unhinged immigration abuses. They recently approved an ordinance “to prohibit law enforcement, including ICE agents, from wearing masks or concealing their identities when conducting law enforcement business in unincorporated LA County.” That is around 65% of the county, with roughly one million residents.
LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn stated: “This is how authoritarian secret police behave—not legitimate law enforcement in a democracy … We are declaring in no uncertain terms that in LA County, police do not hide their faces. That is our expectation, and this ordinance will now make it our law.”
HABBA RESIGNS
Yesterday, Trump’s former personal lawyer Alina Habba resigned as acting US attorney for NJ. This comes after an appeals court ruled that she was unlawfully serving in the role. Good riddance—I hope she is shunned from public life forever.
Dem Senators Cory Booker and Andy Kim said in a joint statement that Habba’s resignation “brings to a close a troubling chapter and confirms what we have warned from the start. Habba’s installation through an irregular and unlawful process undermined the credibility of the office and eroded the public’s trust.”
RASKIN OPENS NEW PROBE
Dem Rep. Jamie Raskin launched an investigation into what he’s calling “coerced editing” of a recent Trump interview on 60 Minutes. Raskin said: “The facts here are clear. [Trump] directed CBS to edit his own interview … and CBS complied with his requests and omitted its anchor’s questions about Trump’s pardons.”
Raskin added: “It is one thing for CBS to make independent editorial decisions protected by the First Amendment. It is quite another to make edits at [Trump’s] demand out of fear of retribution.”
When corporate media flinches like this in the face of tyranny, we dig in. While they edit out the hard truths to appease a wannabe dictator, we expose them—while driving millions of people to take action.
We’ve sent 548,125 letters to lawmakers to move the needle on dozens of issues in the last year alone. And our massive social media operation dominates the trends, as we dismantle Trump’s propaganda machine piece by piece with our daily news briefs.
But we can’t sustain our work without the backbone of this movement—you.
