PROTESTS IN THE EVERGLADES

Folks have been protesting every Sunday, like clockwork, against Trump and FL Gov. Ron DeSantis’ concentration camp in the Everglades—even as court cases are working through the system to permanently shut it down.

Friends of the Everglades, a group that has filed several lawsuits on the matter, stated: “The Everglades belong to everyone—and the public has a right to know what’s happening to them … we’ll continue to demand accountability and defend the principle that government officials answer to the public.”

Noelle Damico of the group The Workers Circle said: “One of the most rewarding parts of this ongoing resistance is that people are finding one another. They’re breaking their isolation. They’re coming out from their homes and their neighborhoods, and they’re saying, ‘I’m not alone in thinking this is wrong, and I’m not alone in wanting to do something about it.’”

CHRISTMAS EVE IN MASSACHUSETTS

A large crowd, including faith leaders, gathered to protest and hold a worship service outside the ICE facility in Burlington, Massachusetts on Christmas Eve. Demonstrators loudly sang songs, with one participant saying they hoped detainees were “able to hear and know that they are not forgotten.”

Reverend Manny Daphnis of Restoration Community Church said: “What ICE has done is it’s terrorized, it’s truly ripped apart families … what we want to do is represent that hope can exist even here.”

A COMEDIAN KNEW

South Park writer Toby Morton hilariously preempted Trump’s move to add his name to the Kennedy Center by buying up trumpkennedycenter.org and .com domains months in advance.

For now, the websites are empty, but Morton said he has big plans for them to “focus squarely on Trump’s narcissism, branding impulses, and the broader cultural implications of attaching his name to institutions that were meant to be civic, not personal.” Excellent.

THE EPSTEIN COVER-UP CONTINUES

By law, the Epstein files were due to be released in full over a week ago, but the DOJ failed miserably to turn everything over. And now, Trump’s doing everything he can to stall—even acting like he has the authority to prevent further releases.

Dem Rep. Robert Garcia made it clear: “This is a full-blown White House cover-up being directed by [Trump]. What is he hiding? The DOJ needs to release all the files, NOW.”

While Dem Rep. Yassamin Ansari said: “This is criminal. Trump’s DOJ is illegally withholding the full, unredacted Epstein Files, in direct violation of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The most egregious cover-up in American history.”

KIMMEL’S CHRISTMAS ADDRESS

In a wonderful Christmas message, Jimmy Kimmel slammed Trump hard for trying—and failing—to cancel his show earlier this year. Kimmel said Trump would “like to shut me up, because I don’t adore him in the way he likes to be adored. The American government made a threat against me and the company I work for, and all of a sudden, we’re off the air. But then … A Christmas miracle happened.”

Kimmel added: “Because so many people spoke out … our show came back stronger than ever. We won, [Trump] lost, and now I’m back on the air every night giving the most powerful politician on Earth a right and richly deserved bollocking.”

Kimmel is spot on—our public outrage is what brought him back on the air. Because the only way to beat a bully like Trump is to be louder than he is.
