Rep. Thompson Stares Down Kristi Noem and Demands She Resign, Trump Has Another Tantrum About His Brain Failures, Mark Kelly Roasts The Regime, and Abrego Garcia Freed From Unlawful Custody
Momentum is ours
While Trump freaks out about possibly being prosecuted for war crimes—even though we’re not at war—I’m glad to have great news for you today.
No ads, no hidden agendas, and no corporate overlords here. Just fearless reporting and relentless activism that is supported 100% by readers like you. Help keep our resistance against Trump going strong by becoming a paid subscriber today:
Let’s jump in.
GARCÍA RELEASED
Kilmar Ábrego García was released from federal custody Thursday afternoon, after a judge granted his habeas corpus petition. The judge said García was being detained “without lawful authority,” and the government’s actions “cannot be considered ... consistent with due process.”
And in a ruling issued just this morning, the same judge barred federal agents from arresting García during his check-in with immigration authorities today.
TRUMP’S BROKEN BRAIN TANTRUM
Once again, Trump had a tantrum over reports on his broken brain. This time, it was in response to an op-ed in The New York Times titled “Trump’s Approval Ratings Have Declined. So Has His Vigor.” Trump had an absolute meltdown about it on Truth Social, even saying The New York Times was “seditious” for printing it.
The paper’s spokesperson Nicole Taylor responded, stating: “Americans deserve in-depth reporting ... about the health of the leaders they elect. Mr. Trump welcomed our reporting on the age and fitness of his predecessors; we’re applying the same journalistic scrutiny to his vitality … We won’t be deterred by false and inflammatory language that distorts the role of a free press.”
I’m glad they’re defending their reporters, but if they had acted this way a decade ago we wouldn’t be in this mess.
MARK KELLY PULLS NO PUNCHES
In an interview on Wednesday, Dem Sen. Mark Kelly let loose on members of the Trump Cabinet, saying: “They kiss his ass. Last time he had people who would tell him when he was full of sh*t.” Of course, we aren’t so lucky this time.
Kelly also went after Trump directly, calling him “The Commander-in-Sleep,” and adding: “All this guy cares about is figuring out how he can fleece the American people out of their money. Including his supporters … signing up for Trump phones that they’ll never get, that buy his meme coin ... and they lose their retirement savings.”
NOEM INTERRUPTED AND CONFRONTED
Failing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem testified in front of the House yesterday—and it went about as well as you’d expect. Noem was interrupted by protesters, with one who appeared to be a priest yelling: “End the deportations!” and “The power of Christ compels you!” Another demonstrator stood and said: “Get ICE off our streets! Stop terrorizing our communities!”
Noem outright lied on multiple occasions, even saying the regime hadn’t deported any American citizens or Veterans. Dem Rep. Seth Magaziner wasn’t having it, and responded by introducing multiple Veterans who had been deported or had family members deported.
When the hearing was halfway over, Noem left saying she had to attend a meeting that was actually canceled. But before she could scurry out, Dem Rep. Delia Ramirez told Noem: “Your options are limited. Either you’re going to resign, Trump’s going to fire you, or you will be impeached.”
BENNIE BRINGS IT
I also wanted to put a spotlight on Dem Rep. Bennie Thompson, who absolutely brought the fire yesterday.
During his time questioning Noem, Thompson slammed DHS, saying they have “illegally tased, maced, punched ... shot ... racially profiled, detained and locked up” Americans.
“Rather than sitting here and wasting your time and ours with more corruption, lies and lawlessness,” Thompson said, “do a real service to the country and just resign.”
This is the kind of strength we need to bring to the resistance. Our daily news briefs are an antidote to maga propaganda and lies. And our Watchdog Coalition mobilizes the resistance, having driven 550,000 contacts to Congress and billions of impressions on social media. We even trended #RepublicanHealthcareFailure just yesterday.
We can only speak this freely against the Trump regime because we are completely independent. Taking any corporate cash would be like accepting a muzzle over our reporting and activism. And we will never let that happen. We refuse to be silenced.

I have two questions for you today.
How do you think Noem’s testimony in front of the House went?
What do you think would need to happen for corporate media to spend as much time focusing on Trump’s broken brain, as they did on Biden’s minor gaffes?
