Well, that week was beyond ridiculous. There is absolutely no reason why Trump should still be in office, but here we are. So, I’m thrilled to be able to deliver some good news for you today. I hope it brings you some peace in the midst of all this chaos.
Let’s start with the courts.
A federal judge has once again ordered the Trump Administration to return Abrego Garcia to the United States. Another judge took steps to prevent the administration from deporting more than 500,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans.
In another major development, Judge Wendy Beetlestone denied Trump’s attempt to throw out the Central Park Five’s defamation case against him. Their lawyer said they are “gratified by the Court’s ruling … and look forward to discovery, trial and the ultimate vindication of these five fine men.”
Meanwhile in Coeur d’Alene, ID, police have recommended criminal charges—including battery and false imprisonment—against the security team who brutally dragged Dr. Teresa Borrenpohl out of a town hall in February. This is taking way too long, but it’s good to see a glimmer of justice. Hopefully there will be some arrests in the next week or so.
In Congress, Dem Senators are pushing for the SEC to investigate whether Trump and his allies “engaged in insider trading.” In addition, Dem Sens. Schiff, Schumer, Warren, and Wyden asked state attorneys general to investigate any state crimes, like fraud or tax evasion. Trump can’t pardon state crimes.
In a related move, Dem Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling out her colleagues for stock trades made just before tariffs were paused, stating: “Any member of Congress who purchased stocks in the last 48 hours should probably disclose that now … It’s time to ban insider trading in Congress.”
AOC is absolutely right—our elected officials should never be able to profit off the office they hold.
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of speaking with Joy Reid about all the Trump chaos—and how we can fight back.
Joy didn’t hold back, slamming the GOP for being absolute cowards. Reid asked, why even be a US Senator “if you’re so scared of a primary, that you can’t do the right thing?” She then said Republicans know Trump’s “unhinged. They just don’t care.”
And on the tyranny we face right now, Reid offered some inspirational words: “Autocracy is exhausting and it’s designed to exhaust you … the worst enemy of autocracy is joy.” She urged everyone to take action, no matter how small: “Do something that you can do ... and be joyful. Have some joy.”
I asked Joy why she was willing to risk her job by letting folks like me—who were investigating Trump in 2016—onto her show. Reid responded: “What is the point of having a platform if you’re not willing to use it?”
That’s exactly right! In addition to reporting the good news, I believe it’s our duty to use our platform to help organize the opposition against Trump.

Do you agree that elected officials should be completely banned from trading stocks while in office?
