Senator Murphy Slams Trump Hard Over Fake Ukraine Peace Plan, Dems Score Two Major Election Wins, Doctors Rally Against ICE Abuses, and Kimmel Humiliates MAGA With Contract Extension

BIG DEM FLIPS

Last night, Eileen Higgins became the first Democrat to win Miami’s mayoral race in nearly 30 years. And it wasn’t even close—Higgins won by more than 18 points over her maga opponent, in a city that Trump carried by more than 7 points last year.

Also, in Georgia on Tuesday, Democrat Eric Gisler flipped a state House district that Trump won by around 12 points in 2024. These, along with other recent special election results, are huge shifts that suggest a big blue wave may be building for the midterms.

HEALTHCARE WORKERS RALLY

Dem Rep. Maxine Dexter—who is a physician—joined doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers for a rally outside of Portland, Oregon’s main ICE facility on Sunday. They were there to protest Trump’s rampant immigration abuses and the profound damage he’s inflicting on the health of vulnerable communities.

Organized by the group Doctors Defending Democracy, many folks wore scrubs and white coats while carrying signs that read: “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty!” and “Stop ICE Cruelty.”

Dexter stated: “I’m standing here with … at least a hundred healthcare workers who are seeing front and center, people being intimidated for coming in for care … and harmed at the hands of our federal officers, and this is absolutely antithetical to what Americans should have to deal with.”

KIMMEL SIGNS EXTENSION

Looks like Trump lost another battle against late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, who just signed a contract extension to keep him on air through mid-2027. Poking fun at Trump’s attacks on the show, Kimmel said: “I am pleased to announce another no-talent year!”

Let’s not forget, it was Kimmel’s refusal to bow to maga, combined with our massive public pressure, that led to Trump’s defeat. More proof that when we all stand united for a fight—we win.

CROCKETT RUNS FOR SENATE

Dem Rep. Jasmine Crockett announced she is running for US Senate in Texas. With Colin Allred recently dropping out, that leaves two main contenders for the Democratic nomination—Crockett and State Rep. James Talarico.

On her campaign website, Crockett states: “I’m running for the United States Senate because I believe Texas deserves a Senator who will be an independent voice for all 30 million Texans—not a rubber stamp or party line vote for Donald Trump.”

DEFENSE BILL LIMITS TRAVEL

Lawmakers from both parties are ramping up their pressure on failing Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Buried deep in a defense bill is a provision that withholds a quarter of Hegseth’s travel funds—unless Congress is given the “unedited video of strikes” on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean.

Dem Sen. Adam Schiff stated: “Pete Hegseth has been proudly posting videos of deadly boat strikes for months. If he’s so confident that the killing of two shipwrecked survivors on September 2 was legal, then he should stop stalling and release the full video.”

TRUMP’S UKRAINE GRIFT

Calling it “The most serious corruption of American foreign policy ever,” Murphy said the peace plan “has nothing to do with peace. It is a business deal to make the people around Donald Trump rich. It’s just corruption, through and through.”

Murphy added that Putin knows “the way to get to” Trump and Witkoff: “Pay them off. Pay their friends off. Do favors for the billionaire crowd. This is a terrible ‘deal’ for Ukraine.”
