After every mass shooting, DC Republicans offer the same thing. Thoughts. Prayers. A moment of silence, then back to their corruption.

Virginia Gov. and former CIA officer Abigail Spanberger was done waiting. She just signed a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines—making her state the eleventh to pull those weapons off store shelves.

Guns “designed to inflict maximum casualties,” she put it, “do not belong on our streets.”

Within an hour, top Trump lawyer Harmeet Dhillon said: “See you in court.” The NRA is suing too. Bring it on—a governor with a spine beats a thousand moments of silence.

NEWARK RE-ELECTS THE MAN TRUMP ARRESTED

Last year, federal agents put Newark Mayor Ras Baraka in handcuffs after he showed up to protest outside an ICE detention center. The charges were so flimsy they were dropped soon after—and Baraka sued the US Attorney’s office and the supervising DHS agent for false arrest and malicious prosecution.

Trump wanted to make an example out of him. Last week, Newark voted to re-elect Baraka in a landslide. He beat seven challengers to secure a fourth term.

The regime put him in handcuffs. Newark kept him in office.

THE REGIME LIED. A JUDGE NOTICED

Picture this: You came to America, you played by the rules, and now you have an immigration court date where you have to fight to stay in the country. You show up, because you’re following the law, and waiting in the hallway are federal agents ready to arrest you.

That’s been the regime’s strategy: turn the courthouse into a trap. The DOJ told a judge that an internal memo they drafted made it legal. Then their own lawyers admitted in court that the memo never actually said that. They had simply made it up—and the best excuse they had was calling it a typo—an “attorney error.”

George W. Bush appointee Judge Kevin Castel had allowed the arrests once, trusting what the regime said in the memo. Handed the truth, he reversed himself—ruling the regime can no longer ambush people at three Manhattan immigration courts. Good.

THE COUNTRY HAS SEEN ENOUGH

Here’s a number Trump never wants you to see: 35%. That’s where Reuters/Ipsos has Trump’s approval today. The New York Times, NBC News, ABC News, and Focaldata, meanwhile, have him at 37%—all second-term lows. Nate Silver’s polling average keeps falling as well.

The Iran war is clearly a losing issue for Trump. Sixty-four percent of the country calls it the wrong decision. Just one in four Americans says it was worth it. Even within his own party, only 62% of Republicans approve of how he’s handling the war.

But on cost of living—the issue he rode to re-election—Republicans are now split: 47% approve, 46% disapprove. The worst dealmaker forgot about the people he made the deal with.

November is coming.
