The Age Debate is Nonsense
Another desperate GOP distraction
Some complain about President Biden’s age, but let’s face it, Biden is 81 years old and Trump is 77. If you think Biden is too old for the job, Trump is too.
And the reality is, age is a moot point since it’s looking more and more likely that one of these two will win the presidency.
There are a heck of a lot more concerns you should have about a candidate rather than just their age. For one, you should really look at the policies a candidate proposes, coupled with the accomplishments they’ve had in the past.
President Biden already has a legendary list of accomplishments in his first term so let’s run through some of the bigger highlights.
Before Biden even started his first term, he had announced his plan to fight the war against the coronavirus. His vaccine distribution plan was extremely difficult to organize, and pushing requirements through the thick fog of lies and propaganda was tough. But he did it.
Biden pushed through massive bills including the American Rescue Plan Act, to fight the coronavirus and provide stimulus payments for Americans struggling during the pandemic. The major Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal was so good that even Republicans who voted against it have been taking credit for development spurred by the bill in their states.
Biden also won big for the American people by getting the Inflation Reduction Act passed, which helped curb inflation and drastically lower prescription drug prices. Then there’s the CHIPS and Science Act, which will continue to create countless tech jobs right here in America. On top of that Biden pushed through the first major gun safety bill in nearly 3 decades.
Biden is fighting climate change, getting funding to help defend Ukraine and followed through on his campaign pledge to nominate the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Over 14 million jobs created since Biden took office. Unemployment has remained below 4% for 22 months in a row. These numbers are phenomenal.
Biden also stood with the striking UAW workers in the picket line, cementing his pro-union stance.
No matter what you think of his age, this is the kind of progress Biden will continue to build on in his second term.
Trump has a much darker path in mind for us. We don’t have to take much time looking into what he did in his first term. Watched lots of tv. Shoved papers down toilets. Golfed. Led an insurrection. Threw ketchup. Oh, and got impeached twice.
Trump’s plan for a second term would start with him, being a dictator—only for a day, he promises.
Trump already is invoking hitler terms, is openly wishing for the economy to crash under Biden, incoherently rants at nonunion events and is STILL facing 91 serious felonies in four different cases. Trump’s lawyers are even arguing he is immune from prosecution, saying he could order Seal Team 6 to assassinate his political rivals—and get away with it—as long as he wasn’t impeached. And he would steal healthcare from tens of millions of Americans.
It is a nightmare scenario for all of us.
Second, just take a look at the temperament of the candidate. President Biden is poised, mature and steady. Trump is an unhinged lunatic.
And third, you have to look at the people Biden surrounds himself with versus who Trump would plan to bring into a new Administration.
You can choose Vice President Kamala Harris or Trump’s choice for VP which is a list of terrible, obscure and beyond corrupt politicians.
Biden has the most diverse White House staff in US history. Serious people who work hard, don’t play games and get stuff done. No malarkey. Trump’s staff and cabinet will include only MAGA cult-loving die-hards like Stephen Miller, Jason Miller and Trump’s own children.
So when you hear another Republican try to excuse their support of Trump because of Biden’s age, remind them that Trump is 77, and still downing Big Macs and Diet Coke like water.
For Biden, age was not a bad thing in 2016—and it isn’t a bad thing now. For Trump, age seems to be a marker of how far he’s physically, mentally and morally deteriorated.
Biden and Trump’s age difference is minimal at best. But the differences between the two couldn’t be greater.
