NEW: Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have announced the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Center Moratorium Act, legislation that would enact a reasonable pause to the development of AI to ensure the safety of humanity.

I sure wish Bernie could have been prez! The Dems were too chicken to let him be their candidate.

NEW: Trump’s lies about the ballroom may be among his most galling to date - and that's saying something. Take action: https://tinyurl.com/msfpatpw

A ballroom is a scam against the people! That scam should hit the nearest sewer and disappear. Who gives a fuck about a glorious ballroom with all that is going on in the world?

Letter sent. Thanks, Scott.

What Connecticut just did is a blueprint for the whole country. If the federal government won’t protect people from unconstitutional raids, then states have every right to step in. Forcing federal immigration agents to show their faces and banning masked raids isn’t “radical” — it’s basic democracy. Accountability shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code.

Bill Riley's avatar

Fantastic comment!

Lauren's avatar

It's a start. The problem lies in the enforcement.

Cathy R's avatar

I was thinking about that too. Who is going to arrest a federal ice agent for wearing a mask?

Dian Larkin's avatar

the police - maybe - but it is not enough we need ICE OUT

there is no room in a democracy for ICE Terrorists with or wtihout masks

a 'no masks' rule is nice but it is like putting a bandaid on a severed hand

Lauren's avatar

Sadly, the US has many laws (local, state, and federal) that haven't been enforced. It has for decades. I'm realistic. We need laws that are enforced. I don't mean stupid laws. Keep in mind the regime wants adults to smoke flavored e-cigarettes. I'd like to see most smoking banned. I'm all for medical marijuana.

If they have NEVER enforced the ADA or IDEA, the government isn't going to enforce the lack of masks.

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

We need enforcement of laws that exist, we don’t need the laws, we need the enforcement. The laws aren’t the problem, the enforcement is.

Lauren's avatar

Exactly. There are a lot of stupid ones we can get rid of. I mean the ones we never know exist. Or the stupid declaration of state sandwiches, etc. We can get rid of testing for the sake of testing and go back to education for the sake of education. Etc. Bring back the arts in school.

Nancy L. Hoffmann's avatar

I think most states can arrest ANYone breaking the law. I know MN could, if the feds would release the evidence they grabbed.

Dian Larkin's avatar

the problem lies in the reality that ICE exists in our country at all it is terrifying that we are just accepting ICE Terrorists as the new normal WE DO NOT HAVE TO DO THAT NOR SHOULD WE DO THAT ICE is not normal for a democracy

We were a democracy - the Existance of ICE TERRORISTS undermine our democracy - if they were called the KGB would you get it? THEY ARE OUR GESTAPO OUR KGB and we are not a democracy every day we permit ICE to operate in our country

demand your lawmakers defund them and confiscate their death camps

Sylvia Arrowood's avatar

Love it. I wish every state did this.

Dian Larkin's avatar

it is not enough ICE OUT there is no place in a functioning democracy for lawless, unaccountable law operatives - they are gestapo, they are KGB - demand your lawmakers defund ICE NOW and confiscate their death camps

Dian Larkin's avatar

Home of the free and the brave, act like it - right now we are the weak and the cowardly

The existance of ICE in America is extreme

We must be bold & brave today if we want democracy tomorrow

There is no room in a democracy for lawless 'lawmen' terrorists with no warrants, no rules and no accountability

What CT. just did - no masks - is nice but we need ICE OUT & our country free of ICE TERRORISTS like it was until what? One year ago?

We were bold & brave 249 years ago when we fought for this country & fought for our freedom

Demand your federal lawmakers DEFUND ICE 100% & re-approriate ICE money to something civic like libraries

IF states pay anythig for, or to, ICE or if it supports ICE in any way, inclduing free food or hotels - demand your state stops it - ICE are illegal

Confiscate their death camps as unfit for humans - which they are - & as imprisonment without due process which they are

The existence of ICE in America is extreme

Defunding ICE 100% is not radical or extreme - it is restoring us to the democracy we had pre- ICE terrorists

Eliminating ICE 100% is basic democracy

We can't afford to applaud baby steps & can't afford to normalize ICE & work to find small ways to make them less dangerous to us & to our democeacy - ICE OUT 100% - as it was before

ICE roaming our streets like drug cartels with masks (not in CT!) kicking doors in in the middle of the night w/ no warrants and no accountability THIS IS NOT DEMOCRACY

We fought for this country 249 years ago & must fight again for our democracy. We must put democracy first - baby steps are not good enough demand your lawmakers step up

We were the home of the free and the brave when we fought for our freedom 249 years ago & we need free and brave and boldc again now

ICE OUT

And for immigrant haters there are plenty of humane & lawful ways to effect deportaion of illegal immigrants who are also convicted of crimes in this country

There were so few of these people - the people ICE was SUPPOSED to corral - apparently there were not enough of them so thay started disappearing regular people - moms in their car in school pick-up lines for example

ICE does NOTHING to make us safer - the opposite - and every day ICE exists and every time we normalize ICE and try small ways to minimize their damage is another nail in the coffin of our democracy

Home of the free and the brave act like it

The wildest part isn’t that the studies showed vaccines are safe. Imagine being so committed to a political narrative that you’d hide scientific data from the public.

People deserve the truth, not whatever pollsters think will play best with MAGA.

Nancy L. Hoffmann's avatar

And let hundreds and hundreds of kids die of measles!!

netta glaser's avatar

I can't imagine that, sorry!

Dian Larkin's avatar

you can't imagine the Trum regime would lie and say vaccines are not safe and hide the truth from us - are you joking or serious?

netta glaser's avatar

I meant I can't imagine anyone being so committed as to lie and distort the truth but I don't put anything past this regime.

Attorney General Jay Jones Statement Regarding Supreme Court of Virginia Decision in Redistricting Case

RICHMOND, Va.- Attorney General Jay Jones released the following statement in response to the Virginia Supreme Court decision in Virginia's redistricting case.

"Today the Supreme Court of Virginia has chosen to put politics over the rule of law by issuing a ruling that overturns the April 21st special election on redistricting. This decision silences the voices of the millions of Virginians who cast their ballots in every corner of the Commonwealth, and it fuels the growing fears across our nation about the state of our democracy.

As Attorney General, it is my job to enforce the laws on the books and defend the will of the people. Before the Court, my office clearly laid out both in filings and oral arguments that this constitutional amendment process and voter ratification occurred in a timely, constitutionally-compliant, and legally sound manner.

The Republican-led majority of the Supreme Court of Virginia contorted the plain language of the Constitution and Code of Virginia to give it a meaning that was never intended, which allowed them to reach the wrong legal conclusion that fit their political agenda. The consequences of their error are grave.

The strength and stability of our democracy depends on adherence to the rule of law, the execution of free and fair elections where every eligible voter can cast their ballots to choose their leaders, and public trust in the institutions that provide accountability and protect our democratic processes. This Court's ruling follows a dangerous trend of tilting power away from the people.

My team is carefully reviewing this unprecedented order and we are evaluating every legal pathway forward to defend the will of the people and protect the integrity of Virginia's elections."

I had friends who listened to the radio broadcasting the names of the dead children by polio. Yes, I want vaccines. Yes, I want science not stupidity. And I will continue to use sunscreen to prevent skin cancer.

netta glaser's avatar

I'm old enough to remember polio in the 50s seeing classmates suffering was horrible!!

Nancy L. Hoffmann's avatar

Me too! I was 9 when the first vaccine came out. Boy, did that hurt! They modified it in future years so it wasn't so terribly painful.

Linda Orlick's avatar

Vaccines work! RFK doesnt! Remove from office and bring back the Directors who believe in the science!!!!!

Happy Valley No More's avatar

We should be doing recall petitions in every state!

Hiding vaccine studies is LYING to the American public. Plain & simple. LIARS. Everyone in his handpicked corrupt cabinet.

Governor Landy needs to be impeached. What a load of crock. Kennedy is the same non intelligent person who had his grandchildren swimming in sludge. Where were those parents? I would have a restraining order against him ever being close to my grandchildren. The lies and cover ups are not working. We the People are fighting back stronger than ever. I am posting a sign in the mail room of our condo units asking if people are sick of the lies corporate media is feeding them, they can look for honest reporting at Scott Dworkin, MeidasTouch and I listed several others.

Scott, you wrote, "The regime is counting on Ferguson being a fluke, Louisianna being forgotten, Connecticut being overturned in court and you getting tired before November." Apparently this regime does not even know the Americans they are supposed to be serving! If Ferguson was a fluke then we have had fluke after fluke with these data centers! The very idea that this regime thinks that Louisianna will be forgotten shows just how out of touch these idiots really are! All of us will always remember how a republican governor decided he alone would control an election! Hell to the no on that! We the People will remember every single corrupt, malignant thing these republicans and the orange man have done to our country. History books will teach our future generations just how evil and unhinged this period was in our country! This regime can take Connecticut to court all they want, but they will lose. AG William Tong said it best for every single state in this union, "We are sovereign in this state, this is the sovereign state of Connecticut." That is true for all of us. As far as "We the People" getting tired before November, well, we may be tired, but that is when we double down and work harder! We will have time for rest when we have thrown out this regime and taken back our country and are working to rebuild and restore the United States of America! We will not back down. We will not surrender. Keep fighting, America! Stay strong and stay safe!

netta glaser's avatar

Peggy, thank you for the uplift.

Peggy Freeman's avatar

Anytime, Netta! We have to support one another. This has been and will continue to be an uphill battle. Are we tired? Yes! Will that stop us? No! Keep fighting, Netta! You and I both know our country is worth it!

As far as the first question, how soon can Marc Elias and team sue?

As far as the second, many I know have been. I'm a 10-year cancer survivor. I think of many survivors who don't want vaccines for covid19, etc., and fall for the BS that ivermectin is a cure, etc.
