Thank you Scott, hope your Thanksgiving or Thursday was great.

Sorry to hear about Leavitts relative. What I find more sorry, is she has done nothing to help, or own up to her. I guess one shouldn't expect empathy or anything else resembling humanity.

Thank you to the NYT for having their reporters back

Do we know that KKKaroline didn’t quietly have her released? Of course the woman is no longer detained

Scott, the Leavitt situation is complicated. Karoline’s brother was seeking full custody of the child. One wonders if this action is a way for him to get it. I’m happy The NY Times finally did what it should have been doing since Trump’s Inauguration. It has hardly been the Iron Maiden.

Yeah I didn't want to speculate on the matter in the post, but I would definitely assume that's the case.

That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking! When the estranged ex-fiancée of a prominent WH staffer’s BROTHER is plucked up by ICE…golly, it’s almost like an example of Trumpian retribution.

Reportedly, her ex-husband and ex-FIL have been encouraging her to "self-deport". To a country she hasn't lived in since she was six years old. I look forward to The Reckoning after the midterms.

Absolutely I’m going to become a subscriber as soon as my Social Security comes on 12/3/25. I’m sure the people around Frump know he is the in deep decline. Let’s hope someone will have a genuine spine and realize it’s time for the 25th to get him out ASAP.

Scott, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We appreciate all that you do for us, in keeping us informed.

I absolutely believe Leavitt is working on her brother- in-law's behalf! This was so under the radar.

Also, when do we talk about the job of the free press? The press works for the American people. It is ridiculous to listen to the President of the United States shame members of the press. It literally and figuratively their job to get answers for the American people. How do you work with an administration that gives you no answers? An administration that repeatedly lies, captured on video that is not replayed. How do you work for a network or a paper that doesn't ask the hard questions. You might as well work in a fast food restaurant for all the good they do, no offense to fast food workers.

I no longer watch anything. No MSNBC no CNN never Fox anyway, ABC NBC CBS. Hell I don't even watch local news.

The decline of Donald Trump, why are we, and when I say we, I mean, the press, our elected officials the voters, not hammering about his decline? We did it to Joe Biden, Republicans and Democrats alike. When do our elected officials and our press become accountable? 2026??

Your thoughts??

I hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving, Scott, and for all your readers! Glad on several fronts with today's good news: 1) Hopeful the Swiss investigation will show that bribery was at work after receiving gold gifts that tRump lowered Swiss tariffs. 2) President Obama still remains my favorite president since I started voting. 3) Bravo to the NYTs for standing up for their reporters.

I still get and read the NYT. It’s the only mainstream publication that has maintained its integrity throughout this surreal point in history. The Times ain’t perfect, but its audience is NOT maga (and the paper knows it), so while it’s a cynical take on their defense of their journalists, I think they feel they’ll be supported by their readers in supporting their people. In short, I say THANK YOU, NYT!

Same here! I'm Canadian and the NYT is my pipeline to many events in the USA. I have friends and relatives there. Some are desperate to move but can't see their way clear when it comes to actually leaving the country. My heart hurts for them and for all the other Americans of like mind. I rely on accurate reports by credible news media, in order to keep up to speed on the latest developments. I cancelled my subscription to WaPo when they refused to allow their journalists' endorsement of Kamala Harris to be printed. That might well have been the game-changer. But I see NYT as much more balanced, politically; although a few articles have had a rather worrisome right-wing slant, they're definitely in the minority.

Meanwhile, we guard our borders, both literally and metaphorically. Trump's 51st state nonsense has cost his country much of our longstanding trust and friendship. The credible media have collectively assumed an important position, by holding Trump and his supporters accountable for the inflammatory rhetoric as well as for Trump's many disturbing - and largely unopposed - actions. The other media - the sycophants - have shown us their feet of clay.

Ahh, I so envy you!! I wish Canada could annex Colorado! I’m with your friends in wanting to move but I don’t think Canada would take me (I’ve looked into it lol). The NYT is pretty fairly balanced (the only reporter I’m not sure of impartiality-wise is Nate Cohn. He writes The Tilt, which seems to tilt right even without evidence to back it up.

What’s so funny is that “balanced” and unbiased reporting is what the news is supposed to be. When reporting the facts as they are, stark naked, it may come across as left leaning, but it’s not. The reality right now is harsh and the nation has to SEE it!!

The whole 51st state thing was so outrageously arrogant and stupid and out of the blue, I didn’t and i don’t understand it.

I want to apologize to you and your fellow Canadian citizens for how trump has treated you💕. Americans (well, the ones I know and hang out with) were and are beyond appalled at what trump is doing, even if 99% of the news spewing from this country says otherwise.

I know the answer is “no”, but does anyone in the trump cabinet see that WE see the quid pro quo, the openly corrupt “gift for services rendered” transactional crap going on?

I don’t like “shame” or “shaming” anyone as a rule, but my holiday wish is that these asshats wake up tomorrow, look at themselves in the bathroom mirror and realize how much shame they’ve brought upon themselves and the United States of America.
