Tonight, Trump will enter a building full of people who can’t stand him, as he delivers a rant that is full of lies, trying to convince the world that everything is fine.
We’ll be watching so you don’t have to. Let’s jump in.
IT’S NOT TRUMP’S HOUSE
Dozens of Democrats in Congress are boycotting the State of the Union tonight, with some participating in an event on the National Mall instead. Called the “People’s State of the Union,” it starts at 8:30pm ET and is hosted by our friends at MeidasTouch and MoveOn.
It’s great counterprogramming to whatever propaganda Trump will be reading off a teleprompter.
A separate group of Democrats will hold a “State of the Swamp” event at the National Press Club. Two events, with one message: the state of our union is chaos because of Trump—and we must not pretend otherwise.
Hakeem Jeffries said he will attend: “We’re not going to his house. He’s coming to our house … Having grown up where I grew up, you never let anyone run you off your block.” For the Democrats in the audience, I hope they walk out one by one.
EPSTEIN SURVIVORS WILL BE THERE
Democrats from the House and Senate are bringing survivors of Epstein’s abuse and their families as official guests to the State of the Union tonight.
One of those survivors is Haley Robson—who voted for Trump. When the DOJ redacted the names of co-conspirators in the Epstein files, Robson responded: “I redact any support I’ve ever given to him, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel … I am so disgusted … I want to see Trump, and I want to look him in his eyes.”
Another survivor, Jess Michaels, said she has one question for everyone in the chamber tonight: “Does our government belong to the American people or to those who prey on them?”
Trump will be furious about this. Good.
MINNEAPOLIS STRONG
In addition to Epstein survivors, Dem Rep. Ilhan Omar is bringing four people from her Minneapolis district to Trump’s rant to Congress tonight. People the Trump regime thought they could terrorize into silence.
One of Omar’s guests is Mary Granlund, who is the chair of the Columbia Heights School Board. After at least five children were taken from her schools—including five-year-old Liam Ramos—Granlund began organizing patrols, legal aid, and food deliveries for terrified families.
ICE then tried to intimidate Granlund by stationing cars outside her home and school parking lots. But Granlund has refused to back down.
Another guest of Omar’s, Aliya Rahman, was attacked by Trump’s agents on her way to a doctor’s appointment. Mubashir Hussen was tackled on the street by ICE then told to walk seven miles home after they booked him. And Gerardo Orozco Guzman—whose father was taken to a private prison in New Mexico—will be there as well.
The regime thought they could silence them all. They were wrong.
DOJ COLLAPSES IN COURT
Pam Bondi spent months promising that anyone who stepped in the way of Trump’s immigration abuses would face severe consequences. It’s not going the way she planned.
The DOJ charged more than 160 people in Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Portland with felony assault on Trump’s agents. People who blew whistles, filmed agents, blocked streets, and one guy who threw a Subway sandwich. More than half of the first 100 cases saw charges reduced or thrown out, and every single defendant who went to trial was acquitted.
While the DOJ collapses in court, the legal operations behind them are rotting from the inside. In Minnesota alone, the US Attorney’s office went from 70 prosecutors under President Biden to just 17 today. Their lawyers have resigned so quickly that the Pentagon had to send in JAG lawyers as replacements.
One of them, Julie Le, was hauled before a federal judge to explain why the regime still hadn’t released a man they were holding without a warrant. Le told the judge: “The system sucks. This job sucks,” before asking to be held in contempt just so she could get some sleep.
Pam Bondi promised severe consequences. She got five acquittals, lawyers quitting, and one of her staffers begging the judge for a nap.
KASH GETS CAUGHT
While all of this chaos is going on, FBI Director Kash Patel was in Italy. He took the bureau’s $60 million private jet to Milan to watch the US men’s hockey team win the gold. A trip that cost taxpayers an estimated $75,000.
The FBI tried to play it off by saying Patel was on a business trip. That it was for partner meetings with Italian law enforcement and Olympic security briefings—but then the video of Patel partying and chugging a beer leaked out.
Patel was having the time of his life—running around like a frat boy in the men’s locker room, singing Toby Keith with one of the medals draped around his neck. At least eight outraged former DOJ and FBI officials immediately sent the footage to reporters.
Andrew McCabe, who served as acting FBI director, said the trip sent a “horrible, horrible message.” He added: “The video is ridiculous, and it was completely inappropriate for him to be engaging, to go at all … the excuse that he had to go for security meetings the day before the games are over is patently ridiculous.”
The Epstein files are only partially released. Accomplices still not behind bars. And Patel is slamming brews.

Today I have one question for you:
What would you rather do than watch Trump rant at the State of the Union? We’ll feature some of the answers in tomorrow’s news brief.

Watch this on Meidas Network and MoveOn .org. I’ll catch Rachel Maddow for her analysis.
I’m not gonna watch the SOTU. I’m just gonna wait til you slam him over it in the morning 🤪
