Tim Walz Rocks Dem Convention With Powerful Acceptance Speech

This is how it's done

Night 3 of the Democratic Convention had so many powerful moments.

Among others, we saw great speeches from Oprah, Secretary Pete Buttigieg,  President Clinton, Fmr. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Govs Wes Moore and Josh Shapiro. There were also performances by Amanda Gorman, John Legend and Stevie Wonder.

Tim Walz was given a heartfelt introduction by Benjamin Ingman, one of his former students.

Then Walz took the stage, and the crowd erupted with applause. Here are just a few of his best quotes from the speech:

Running for Congress

I was a 40-something high school teacher with little kids, zero political experience, and no money, running in a deep red district. But you know what? Never underestimate a public school teacher.

Feeding the children

While other states were banning books from their schools, we were banishing hunger from ours.

It’s the guns

I know guns. I'm a veteran, I'm a hunter. I was a better shot than most of the Republicans in Congress and I got the trophies to prove it. But I'm also a dad. I believe in the 2nd Amendment, but I believe our first responsibility is to keep our kids safe.

Project 2025

It's an agenda that does nothing for our neighbors in need. Is it weird? Absolutely. But it's also wrong. And it's dangerous.

The future

We'll build a country where workers come first. Health care and housing are human rights. And the government stays the hell out of your bedroom.
