Today’s Great News That’s Bad For Trump
Protests against the big evil bill, a Stephen Miller scandal, my interview with E. Jean Carroll, and more
We’ve almost made it through another week of Trump’s madness, so I’m glad to have this awesome edition of Great News for you today. Thanks for being here, and taking the time to read. I can’t do this work and remain independent without support from readers like you. So if you haven’t yet, I hope you can join as a paid subscriber today:
Let’s jump in.
Today I’ll be chatting with the amazing E. Jean Carroll at 12pm ET live, right here on Substack. I’ll email a link to subscribers when we launch!
In Columbus, OH, the Stop The Billionaire Giveaway bus tour drew hundreds of fired-up protesters yesterday. With loud chants of “fund our schools,” the rally then turned into a march.
In DC, hundreds of healthcare workers held a “Medicaid Saves Lives” protest. Featuring drummers and chants in unison—the crowd loudly demanded no cuts to Medicaid. We need a lot more of these!
Maga flunky Kenneth Chesebro was disbarred as an attorney yesterday. Chesebro was the so-called “architect” of the fake electors scheme in Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election. An election Trump lost in what he would refer to as a landslide. See ya never Chesebro, hope you have bad luck on LinkedIn.
Speaking of 2020 election deniers, Trump cult member Kari Lake was called out to her face by Dem Rep. Greg Stanton, who stated: “You lost … you embarrassed yourself and our state by lying—again and again, for years.”
And then Stanton added a cherry on top: “You lost to Gov. Hobbs in 2022. You lost badly to Sen. Gallego in 2024 … AZ has another election for governor next year… can you do us all a favor and run again?” Boom.
It was revealed that Trump-brand Dracula Stephen Miller owns more than $100,001 in Palantir's stock. This is straight up corruption—as a lot of Palantir’s revenue comes from government contracts. There will be more to come on this. I’ll make sure of it.
Dem Sen. Mark Warner called on horrible Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to resign or be fired—joining a growing list of others who have done the same. Warner is Vice Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, so this is a big deal.
Yesterday, I had the honor of interviewing Dem Sen. Alex Padilla. One thing he told me is that “Everybody needs to engage ... For some people, it is communicating to their members of Congress. For others, it might have been going to a march or a rally for the first time. Let it not be the last … we need to continue to speak up.”
Padilla said advocacy efforts like ours are the “real work of democracy, and policy making, and representation.” Padilla added this about the importance of constituents contacting their elected officials: “Yes, it matters. We do see every single one.”
This is why on top of our reporting, our Contact Congress campaign has organized folks to make countless calls, and send more than 397,000 letters—just since November. And like Sen. Padilla said, every one of them matters.
We’re reaching Senators and Reps. thousands of times a day—fighting against the big evil bill, and resisting any GOP cuts to Medicaid, Social Security, and more.
I am 100% independent—which means all of our work is funded by our subscribers. And right now, we need all hands on deck. So if you haven’t yet, please join us as a paid subscriber today:
No matter how you subscribe, thanks for fighting for our democracy.
Onward!
Scott
