Trump Came Back For Round Two. Letitia James Won Again.

They confirmed Trump’s lawyer at 4:31 in the morning. It was the only thing that went their way.

No Spines In The GOP

GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy voted to convict Trump in 2021. Trump spent the next five years making Cassidy pay for it. He even recruited Julia Letlow to run against him. In May, Louisiana voters pushed Cassidy out, where he landed third in a three-way primary. Ouch.

Cassidy could’ve voted any way he wanted. He chose to go out like a coward.

On Friday, Cassidy announced he would vote to confirm Todd Blanche as Attorney General. By 4:31 the next morning it was done—50-49.

I’m not shocked. This is the same hypocrite who spent weeks “agonizing” over Bob Kennedy’s horrific record on vaccines before caving when it counted. And Cassidy is a doctor. Seriously—which makes his surrender so much worse.

It’s not just Cassidy. Every Republican who voted yes for Todd Blanche now owns every single thing he does at the Justice Department. We’ll make sure nobody forgets who they were. Onward.

HUD Came Back For Round Two And Lost

There are 13,861 New York households with a roof over their head thanks to a federal program called Continuum of Care. A whopping 94% of that money goes directly into permanent housing.

Under Trump, the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) tried to gut the program last year. But NY Attorney General Letitia James and a coalition of other AGs beat them in court.

This year, HUD wrote new rules for the next funding round that would’ve capped permanent housing below what existing projects need to keep their doors open. Tens of thousands could lose their homes.

So James sued again, along with 20 other attorneys general and two governors.

On Friday, a federal court decided the new rules broke the law, and threw them out entirely. HUD must start all over again. James didn’t hold back: “It is shameful that this administration has tried repeatedly to break the law.”

After two years, two lawsuits, and two losses for the regime, 13,861 New York families never knew how close they came to losing their homes. Thanks to those who pushed back, it looks like they never will.

Delaware Put Back What The Court Tore Out

For six decades, the Voting Rights Act stopped racist politicians from slicing up voting districts to weaken the impact of Black voters.

The Supreme Court gutted the law this year, and Republican politicians in numerous states are already redrawing maps because of it.

On Thursday, Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer signed a bill to fight back. The new law bans discrimination, vote dilution, intimidation, deception, and language barriers at the polls. What the Supreme Court took out, Delaware just put back in.

State Rep. Melissa Minor-Brown is the first Black person to serve as Delaware’s House Speaker. She reminded the crowd at the bill signing that before 1965, Southern states made Black Americans try to pass rigged reading tests just to register to vote: “It’s only been 61 years since literacy tests were outlawed.”

A handful of states built this protection years ago. Delaware just proved it’s not too late for others to take action.

After 83 Days, The Company Blinked

For 83 days, a group of 56 Teamsters held a strike at Breakthru Beverage in St. Louis. The company was attempting to strip worker protections from their contracts.

This week, the workers won and ratified a new contract. The four-year deal includes higher pay, 40 hours of paid sick leave, and MLK Day as a paid holiday. It also reopens health benefit talks, and gives temporary workers a path to permanent status.

Drivers for the company recently organized with Local 600—they landed a contract too. Chris Tongay of Teamsters Local 688 was clear: “When workers stay united, they win.”

With 85 days to go until the midterms, I’m sure Trump will try to do everything he can to distract us from our goal—winning.
