OUR MAIN FOCUS TODAY: Tell Congress: Protect our use of voting by mail and voting machines

https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-congress-protect-our-use-of-voting-by-mail-and-voting-machines/

Sandy S's avatar

Great!!! Thank You Scott! I have to think that there are a lot of mail carriers who would like this whole needless issue to go away. Trump has no evidence to base this need for a federal voting list on. And it is not his job, anyway!! Just like killing the White House Rose Garden and destroying the East Wing was not his business. He needs to focus on getting out of the Iran War, and stop messing around where he doesn't belong!

Joanne Steacie's avatar

Yes, Sandy! Absolutely!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Absolutely with you both, Joanne! Staying united and focused makes all the difference. Thank you for being here! ✨

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Thank you so much, Sandy! Postal workers and local election staff work tirelessly every day, and manufacturing false doubt helps no one. Keeping the focus on real priorities and the law is what matters. Always appreciate your great perspective! 💙

Thanks for creating these letters, Scott. Done!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Thank you so much, Julie! Taking direct action and sending those letters is what drives real pressure on Congress. Truly appreciate you! 🙌

Most of those military families never get a headline. This one did because his son refused to go quiet on that ship. Remember that when the next name doesn’t trend.

Julie's avatar

Exactly. Hegseth is a disgrace to the military and this country. The poor 19-year-old who tried to jump off of the USS Abraham Lincoln is now being court martialed because of his desperation at his abhorrent living conditions on that ship.

Joanne Steacie's avatar

Hegseth is the one who should be court marshalled, prosecuted and jailed as a traitor. And because of incompetence, no leadership skills and being just plain stupid. He needs to be in Leavenworth!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Holding leadership accountable to the highest standards of ethics, competence, and law is essential. Thank you for making your voice heard, Joanne!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

It’s heartbreaking, Julie. Our service members deserve dignity, comprehensive mental health support, and genuine leadership, not punitive retaliation. Thank you for speaking out for them!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Spot on, Ms Jonington. It takes incredible bravery for service members and their families to speak up, and elevating their voices is how we ensure they aren't ignored. Thank you for reminding us of that! 🇺🇸

Mr Al Sayed was amazing. Jesse watters looked and sounded like the idiot he is.

Sam Jones's avatar

Agreed. El-Sayed crushed it. He’s a real one.

Brenda Doherty's avatar

I think Ossoff and El Sayc

Brenda Doherty's avatar

Cont. Al Sayed are the new faces of the Democratic Party. They are knowledgeable and don’t back down. It doesn’t hurt that they are also good looking.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Dr. El-Sayed did a phenomenal job staying poised, armed with facts, and completely unflappable. Great leaders let the truth do the heavy lifting! 👏

Julie's avatar

Jesse Watters is a horrible and grossly immature person, lacking in any emotional intelligence. If elected, I believe El-Sayed will do great things.

Sam Jones's avatar

That McKeown line is going to live in my head. They didn’t even bother dressing it up. They just pointed at the Oval Office and expected that to be enough.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

That quote really says it all, Sam. Relying on "the President made us do it" collapses the moment it faces real constitutional scrutiny in a courtroom!

Dr. Stephanie Lovely's avatar

I’m so proud to hear stories of Americans standing up against Trump and winning. But it still sucks that our bravery and innovation are spent fighting our own government.

Sam Jones's avatar

TRUTH. BTW, Dr. Lovely has an awesome Substack that everyone needs to check out!

Marilyn Kellner's avatar

We are so elated in Key West for the release of this local!

Connie Spence's avatar

We got Jimmy Kimmel back on the air pretty quickly.

Here in Minnesota, we are protecting our first amendment rights, over and over again. We are also fighting for prosecutions over the two executions that took place during the “siege” last winter.

Sam Jones's avatar

Keep up the great work, Connie!

Julie's avatar

Mad respect for Minnesotans. They have been through hell these past two years and have handled it with great strength and resilience.

Barbara Pflughaupt's avatar

I’m sort of disgusted by it, but when Kirsten Gillibrand and the Democrats went after Al Franken for a stupid photo and he actually resigned. Really fast.

Democrats eat their own, and we lost a terrific senator because of a stupid joke. They took that seriously, but not the women and men saying they were trafficked. 🙄

Makes my blood boil too

Hooray for Joshua. How dare our government. Or trump’s government. I have a feeling it’s going away soon. Call it positive thinking.

Badly needed GOOD NEWS!

In Missouri two groups, RespectMOVoters.org and People Not Politicians have taken their cases to the Missouri Supreme Court. We have the right of citizen initiatives to put changes to our laws and constitution before voters. It has become the practice for the legislature to overturn what the people have voted for. So RMV has an Amendment which received almost twice as many signatures as needed to put it on the ballot this November. The case is similar for PNP, except they are working to get a referendum on the ballot to reverse the gerrymandered maps Trump asked our governnment to put in place this year. Our Secretary of State, Denny Hoskins, has refused both of these issues for reasons we feel are specious. In the case of RMV Hoskins approved our initiative and ballot language last year...now he says the language covers more than one topic. It doesn't. In the case of PNP, he claims it is unconstitutional for a citizen's initiative to change district maps however, in 1922 a gerrymandered map was referendumed by citizen initiative without any challenges of it being unconstitutional. This work is not national, but it is important for the people of Missouri to hang onto their rights in the future. Check us out.

Thanks, Scott. Your reports are encouraging! The current occupant and his minions continue to engage in hateful, mean-spirited, vicious, underhanded activities. Thankfully, there are judges, protestors, and ALTERNATIVE media to call 'em out on it! One sailor, one message: made a HUGE difference. Dad is home again with family... where he belongs.

Nicole E's avatar

Not a local issue but very proud of the volunteers of a national voter protection effort to create graphically appealing reminders of important election dates in different states.

With all the chaos and disinformation out there one of the simplest things we can do is give easily digestible voting plan information for those who aren't as engaged in the voting process.

Jessica Rath's avatar

So glad that Luis Manuel Aviles is home. But did you hear THIS? The 19-year-old sailor who jumped off the USS Lincoln is facing disciplinary charges, brought by a second-rate former Fox News TV host. Despicable.

netta glaser's avatar

Worse than Despicale

Julie's avatar

Jessica, I just said the same above before I saw your comment. It's like they can abuse people enough. Disgusting.

Thanks for your reports Scott!
