While lawmakers are back in their districts dodging floor votes, constituent mail is the only metric their staff can't ignore. Take two minutes today to put your name on the record across these four active fights:

Good heavens!!!! To quote HCR "Every morning I wake up to see what new hell awaits us"!

Thank heavens for The Dworkin Report, HCR, Meidas team, Katie Phang and the many, many other warriors out there fighting hard.

They asked for a comment, and the campaigns didn’t give one. That’s the tell. If you can’t defend the check, don’t cash it. Thirty-two days.

I looked up my senator after this. Not to feel better. To see if the check was there. If it is, the ad they run in October does not get the last word. I do. Restack it so the next person does the same thing.

Just a note on the private prison system. Paying them by ‘bed’ would be a major improvement as so many of these people imprisoned don’t get a ‘bed’. In fact, many don’t even get a floor mat. What bothers me the most about it is how predictable the treatment of those poor people was completely foreseeable when funding was passed. Warehouses - actual warehouses!!! Full of human beings that are treated worse than dirt for the crime of seeking the ‘American dream’ whilst not being white. It’s happening to people every damn day. Every single one of the ‘lawmakers’ that voted for this and took the filthy money behind it ought to be compelled to spend a week, or a month, in such inhumane conditions.

Private prisons should be illegal. The public fund should not be funding deliberate, profitable cruelty.

keep up the great reporting.. can't wait until we no longer have to wake up each morning wondering what fresh new hell has been unleashed on our once great country. orange face has turned us into a banana republic and the laughing stock of the world.

I’m so exhausted by the corruption. I’m exhausted waiting for justice for Epstein victims. I’m exhausted waiting for justice for the good people ripped off the streets on their way to work or school and tossed into prisons and deported to a third country. I’m exhausted by my hatred. And I’m terrified for our elections. I’m exhausted waiting for MAGA to wake up and save our democracy. Exhausted hoping Dems get out and vote. Exhausted waiting for Republicans to be decent. Exhausted looking for the escape hatch.

Geo group and CoreCivics are slime! The 9 should give the money back. But, I don't expect the GOP slime to do that.

The iRS already has it. That being said, I don't trust the regime with any of my sensitive data.

I wouldn't trust this regime with a dog license number (if I had a dog) never mind an SSN, or a driver's license #. This regime is led by the most insane of leaders since Caligula. He is a senile sociopath and can't be trusted with a grocery list.

When reading "the Jail Money" I could sense my blood pressure rising. This is why we need to get rid of Citizens United via "Move to Amend" that's trying to pass a HR bill to outlaw seeing corporations as persons to donate money.

It also got me wondering, Scott and Sam, will you keep this Substack going after the elections. Even with Dems taking over Senate and the House (hopefully), we, the people, also need to hold them accountable.

Virginia Stewart's avatar

No, I would never trust them with my Social Security number.

Elon and Peter Theil most likely already have all your personal information. The question is, how do we get it back and what penalty will these people pay for violating our rights?

The ICE facilities are drenched in corruption. Even when detainees sign deportation papers, they get shackled and hauled all over. Each facility can then send their bills to the government. It’s all about the money.

Thank you for doing all the digging. I am using your reports to make a list of who is funding Dan Sullivan's campaign to share. Can't wait to vote that man out!

This is vile news. To answer the question, yes, anyone should give the money back, should have to confess they took it, and be driven out of politics for good. Nixon’s shame has nothing on these people.

Corruption, corruption, corruption.

But I’m glad goofy Jerome Powell doesn’t have to suffer the degrading slings and arrows questioning his integrity any more. While yes, he looks a little like Alfred E. Neumann all grown up (without the gap-toothed grin), Jerome was (is) a competent, hard-working, very smart man and he didn’t deserve one iota of the debasement he suffered under trump.
