The Resistance Surges As Six Surgeons General Slam Kennedy, Spanberger Lights Up Virginia, Kimmel Polls Higher Than Trump, and Independent Journalism Rises To Meet The Moment
While Trump’s shutdown drags on, the resistance accelerates
While Trump escalates his authoritarian tactics—from weaponizing his government shutdown to invading US cities—I’m glad to have good news for you today. I hope these stories of resistance give you a bit of relief from the chaos, and show that our movement is gaining serious momentum.
But we need all hands on deck to keep building the resistance and pushing back. If you haven’t yet, please support our work by becoming a paid subscriber today:
SOUNDING THE ALARM AGAIN
Medical professionals are once again sounding the alarm on failing HHS Secretary Bob Kennedy. This time, six former Surgeons General penned a scathing op-ed, titled: “It’s our duty to warn the nation about RFK, Jr.”
They call out Bob for “endangering the health of the nation,” saying he “has rejected science, misled the public, and compromised the health of Americans. The nation deserves a Health and Human Services secretary who is committed to scientific integrity and can restore morale and trust in our public health agencies.”
They’re absolutely right. Bob Kennedy needs to resign or be fired immediately.
KIMMEL WINS BY A LANDSLIDE
We should always take polls with a grain of salt, but this one was too good not to share. A new survey from Economist/YouGov shows that Jimmy Kimmel’s net favorability rating is 16 points higher than Trump’s.
During his show, Jimmy Kimmel had some advice for Trump: “If he’s looking to improve his approval numbers, I have an idea: release the Epstein files.”
LOOMER LOSES
The Supreme Court refused to hear Laura Loomer’s appeal in her bogus case over being banned from some social media sites—where she constantly posted hate speech and lies. Loomer is one of the worst maga conspiracy theorists out there, and no one should be giving her a platform.
BONDI IMPLODES
Pam Bondi ranted in front of the Senate yesterday, in one of the most embarrassing displays by a Trump regime member I’ve ever seen. And that’s a tall order.
It was like watching a Twitter troll testify, as Bondi replied to every Dem Senators’ questions with low blows and unhinged tirades. The highly scripted fake outrage from Republicans only made it worse. I truly felt that after every sentence, they were going to say: “And, scene!”
Nothing Bondi said is worth repeating. She failed to answer serious questions about rampant corruption, Tom Homan’s $50,000 cash payment, and the prosecution of Trump’s enemies.
One thing is clear: Once the Trump regime is gone, the members of this DOJ will be investigated for years to come.
VIRGINIA
Speaking of someone who refuses to answer real questions, GOP nominee for Virginia governor Winsome Earle-Sears was recently asked what Trump policies she disagrees with. But she refused to go against her dear leader, and couldn’t name one. How embarrassing—especially since Trump has so far declined to endorse Earle-Sears.
The image above tells a tale of two very different campaigns for governor. On the left, Dem Rep. Abigail Spanberger stands before a packed room of cheering supporters. On the right, an Earle-Sears bus tour stop in the very same city, looked like a ghost town. Still, I hope Spanberger’s folks work like they’re behind, and sprint through the finish.
A TEXT-ONLY INTERVIEW? WHAT?
CNN’s Jake Tapper had an “exclusive interview” with Trump—via text message. Wait, what? It was pathetic. We have no idea who was answering any of these softball questions, nor do we know what was asked and left unanswered.
If former President Joe Biden did this, corporate media would obsess over it for weeks. Instead, they’re acting like this is totally normal. Where are the constant demands for in-person interviews?
We’ll never get that from corporate media, because they have totally failed us. That’s why our revolution in independent journalism is so important. And we are at the forefront, delivering one of the most-read news briefs in the world every day.
I believe we have a duty to use our massive platform for good—and to fight back. That’s why we also run our enormous Contact Congress effort, and the biggest social media organizing campaign against Trump ever.
And we do it all with no billionaires or ads, because everything we do is 100% funded by our subscribers on Substack. So if you’re able, help us keep up the fight by joining us as a paid subscriber today:
Onward!
