Two days after the election, the people who covered for Trump are already counting on us to get tired. We’re not. These four letters line up the first fights for the new Congress. Each one takes about 30 seconds and goes straight to your members of Congress.
All. Thanks for these letters Scott. We need to watch carefully for the next 2 months. We need to continue to hit our Republican reps with these constant demands and show we are still watching them.
I’ve been in these fights long enough to know how rare a night like Tuesday is. The relief is real. So is the work that starts now. Thank you for every letter, every restack, every dollar, and every time you refused to look away. We took the House and the Senate because enough people kept showing up. I’m exhausted and grateful and ready for the next two years. Let’s go.
Then we need a tag team. Your exhaustion is completely understandable, and Dems need to get to work, with a lot of heavy lifting, while you take a well-earned breather.
By the way, and for the record, I love these posts.
We’re showin’ up and showin’ out!! Sent them all. And you GO, Montana!!
If ya have a minute head on o et to The Fucking News on Substack. With Dems in control, a deal could be made that would nullify the Electoral College for the coming election!!! I suggest we heartily encourage this!!
I keep thinking about all the people who kept fighting even when it felt pointless. You didn’t quit. On Tuesday you took Congress away from him. I’m proud of this community and proud to be in it with you. The subpoenas are coming. The accountability is coming. Thank you for staying in the fight. Onward.
We all understood that giving up was not acceptable. We’re in it for the long haul. Election Day was such a huge relief. I always believed that the majority of Americans were on our side. Seeing how many of us were on the side of honesty and decency was all we needed to keep going.
If DC is too scared to end Citizens United, then it is up to the states to do it for them. I'd love to see that ballot initiative in my own state of AZ, as well as every other states' ballots.
Yesterday, I finally got through to my Republican sister. She had recently moved to New Mexico — and away from the R party. When she answered the call, the first words out of her mouth were: “Congratulations! I can finally breathe again! What a night! She had switched and voted for Democrats straight ticket for the first time in her life. Why? She has three daughters and three grand-daughters. She had watched with increasing dismay as women’s rights were eviscerated little by little. The Dept. of Health had been decimated, along with all of our recent political past. Et Alia.
I’m proud also of everyone that pitched in. I did what I could with posting my thoughts and views and my son who is the President of IBEW Local No 1 was out campassing door to door. I am very proud of him and his dedication to this fight. We did it and we did it together.
Incredible wins all over-so many great stories! Let’s get control of wasteful spending (and billionaires) ……..and for God’s sake…can someone take all that gold junk out of the white house soon?! lol
Yes Tess! Clean out the oval office and include the current resident! I am so sick of Trump and his dirty tricks and his mean nicknames for everyone he dislikes. Scott, I sent all your letters, thanks for making it so easy. Let's stay alert for what trump wil try to do next because you know him and Stephen Miller are scheming behind the scenes. Voight is a piece of trash too! He filled his white house with the worst of the worst. God help us all.
Now the Dems must eschew infighting and show a (fairly) unified approach to addressing the peoples' concerns. Show real results, or this blue tsunami will not have longevity or much effectiveness,
Can you imagine CA with the Montana plan.....now that would be a game changer!
Thanks Scott--to you and the team for keeping us all together and sane while we fought the Trump regime one day at a time.
Yes...now the real work begins--not for what we're against--Trump regime--but what we're for--A United States that puts people and life first. These are going to be dynamic times!
How wonderfully right you are! Work and fight for the real American dream, the real human dream of equality of opportunity, fairness, kindness and peace!
Yes, I write at Fractured World—Build Wholeness. Now we can redirect our attention to building wholeness—personally, in our families, communities and the world!
Me too! Hopefully Ohio’s first female governor, Amy Acton, will be able to do so along with undoing all of the corruption Repubs have inflicted on our public schools, women’s rights, right to vote, etc!
Absolutely. It’s a brilliant workaround to Citizens United which will not be undone by this Supreme Court. It helps level the playing field and returns more power to local government. I’d personally love to see a state pull the charter from one of these “privileged” corporations.
I sent Annie Andrews some ActBlue love on the recommendation of my sister in common law, who is also a pediatrician and had met Andrews at a fundraiser set up by one of her colleagues at Vanderbilt Children’s. She doesn’t vouch for many — and has the (indirect) political connections to get inside the wire. So when she vouched for Andrews, I figured she was okay. I’ve been burned by contributing to races out of state before (looking at YOU Kirsten Sinema) so I don’t usually do that unlessI know for sure what I’m getting. It’s not enough to be a Democrat running against a repugnant Gooper.
Ojeda, on the other hand, I’ve been bullish on for a long time — I’ve followed his career long before he got into this race, but when he announced he was running in the district next door I was on board immediately. My district was one of the ones the legislature packed to concentrate the blue vote into 4 districts, so that one was decided by the Dem primary. (I couldn’t even tell you who the Republican in the race was, but I do remember there was one.) But then fate conspired that I actually *met* Ojeda — not at a rally, not a fundraiser, not a town hall — at a Dropkick Murphys concert in Raleigh last Valentine’s Day (who says romance is dead?) — far from the 9th district (or the 4th for that matter). And in the space of 15 minutes or so, in a setting completely removed from the campaign, between bands in a darkened mosh pit no fewer than three *other* people recognized him and introduced themselves while I was talking with him. This is what happens when you go meet the people where they’re at instead of hiding in your bunker avoiding having to face the voters. AndRichard Hudson was the mook who *initiated that strategy* — keep your head down, and wait for the storm to pass. Well it didn’t pass, and while he was keeping his head down, Ojeda was knocking doors *personally* street by street from one end of the district to the other. Getting his name recognition the old fashioned way. The payoff showed up in that mosh pit in Raleigh 10 months ago, and it showed up again last Tuesday at the polls. “Sappers clear the way, Airborne all the way!”
I'm not really worried about that. It would be trading two conservatives for two more. After 2028, then we can expand the court, put time limits on how long you can serve, etc.

Looks like it could be doable. I believe the Democrats have the first Trifecta since 1966!!!
Let’s go!!
Yes!
Get corporate money out of politics. Good mantra
If we can’t have a national ban on corporate funding of campaigns, let’s do it state by state…nationwide!
Yes!! We can do this!

That's wonderful news. Congrats on your sister finally seeing the light.

You do it a great job raising him,Mom !

I would absolutely support a ban on corporations spending money in elections in my state.
Me too! Hopefully Ohio’s first female governor, Amy Acton, will be able to do so along with undoing all of the corruption Repubs have inflicted on our public schools, women’s rights, right to vote, etc!

Love this story! Thanks for sharing…
The Montana Plan should be nationalized into the USA Plan. Is it too early to talk about congressional leadership?
They're going to try to get Thomas and Alito to retire so they can seat two more conservative justices to the court.
There is not enough time before the GOP loses its majority to confirm their replacements for Thomas and Alito.
I hope not. They have 59 days between today and Jan 3 when the new senate is seated.
With 2 major holiday recesses in those 59 days.
You forgot that McConnell got Barrett confirmed about three weeks before the end of the clown's first term.
I didn’t, but lightning seldom strikes twice!
McConnell was cockier than is Thune, and Rs are running scared, but I wouldn't put anything past them.
But don’t forget who confirms (or doesn’t confirm) those picks.
We now control the senate and the judiciary committee.
Not until January 3, unfortunately.
As I replied to Brenda Doherty just above, a lot of mischief can be made in two months.
We should not let it happen!
It will be hard for them to get the votes unless they do it before January, which I doubt or should I say hope not.
I'm not really worried about that. It would be trading two conservatives for two more. After 2028, then we can expand the court, put time limits on how long you can serve, etc.
