Trump Reminds Everyone He’s An International Embarrassment and More Great News
A powerful message from Jamie Raskin, horrible poll numbers for Trump, and more
Every day, I cut through the Trump regime’s landfill of lies and propaganda to deliver the truth you deserve. Thanks for reading—I’m glad you’re here. Let’s jump in.
Trump was back on the road yesterday, making an absolute fool of himself at the G7 conference in Alberta, Canada. One of the first things he did was complain to the Press about Russia not being a member. Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney eventually stepped in to shut down all further questions.
Later, while boasting in front of the Press about an agreement with the UK, he called it an “EU deal,” and literally dropped some of the papers on the ground. For the record, the UK is not part of the EU.
Trump then left the summit early. The entire trip serves as a reminder that Trump is an international disgrace—not that we needed another reminder. I can’t wait for Jake Tapper’s book about this episode.
I always take polls with a grain of salt, but sometimes the numbers are too overwhelming to ignore. A new NBC News Poll shows that 81% of Americans believe “if a federal court rules that an administration action is illegal, then the administration has to follow its ruling.” Apparently, 19% are ok with Trump breaking the law, which is just pathetic.
In one of the clearest shows of corruption since Trump took office, he launched a phone company that claims it will sell an American-made Android—for $499. He’s also offering an accompanying phone plan—that uses other major providers as its network. I first thought it was a joke—but it’s very real.
Could you imagine if former Presidents Obama or Biden ever tried to profit off the presidency like this? It’s beyond disgusting, and Republicans will do absolutely nothing to stop it. They’re too busy signing up for Trump Mobile.
In the courts, a federal judge blocked Trump’s attempt to ban Harvard from accepting international students. Meanwhile, the American Bar Association sued the Trump regime over its attack on law firms.
And Judge William Young ruled that Trump’s National Institutes of Health cuts were “illegal,” ordering the restoration of more than $1 billion in grants. Judge Young ripped the regime’s abuse of power to shreds, stating: “I've sat on this bench now for 40 years. I've never seen government racial discrimination like this.”
In other news, the entire Fulbright scholarship board resigned in protest, after the Trump regime repeatedly interfered in their process of selecting teachers and students for grant funding. In their resignation letter, the board says the regime “consistently ignored the Board’s request that they follow the law.”
At Stanford University’s graduation on Sunday, a plane flew overhead with a banner that read: “CONGRATS! DO NOT WORK FOR ELON!” What an amazing message, although I would’ve added “OR TRUMP” at the end.
And just yesterday, Dem Rep. Jamie Raskin gave inspiring words about what we’re fighting for: “Democracy ... advances the idea that every single person matters, and we all rise together.”
“The opposite … a dictatorial system where you have a tiny group in society that uses public resources and private resources, just to benefit themselves,” Raskin added. “And that’s what we’ve got now. It's a gangster state.”
Raskin is right. That’s exactly what we’re up against. And right now the Trump regime has a stranglehold on corporate media, controlling their message and bullying them when they tell the truth. That’s why being an independent news source is so critical nowadays. We have never obeyed Trump in advance—and we never will.
