Donald Trump is once again gambling recklessly—not just with America—but the entire world. We all deserve a break from this international disgrace, so I’m cutting through all of his chaos to bring you some good news.
Yesterday, I had an amazing conversation with legendary organizer Jess Craven—be sure to check it out. Today, I’ll be talking with American hero and former DC Metro police officer Michael Fanone at 2pm ET, live on Substack. I’ll email all subscribers a link when we launch. And tomorrow, I’ll be doing an exclusive interview with former MSNBC host and bestselling author Joy Reid.
On Wednesday, our “Hands Off Our Medicaid” campaign generated more than 300 million impressions on social media. It even trended on Musk’s Twitter/X, which is great—since that’s where Republicans spend most of their time online. Thanks to everyone in The Watchdog Coalition who took part!
While I always say don’t trust polls, some of them are worth noting. Including the new numbers from The Economist/YouGov showing Trump to have a negative net favorability with a majority of Americans. Trump is down a whopping -29 for those aged 18-29.
FBI Director Kash Patel was removed from his other role as acting director of ATF—another job he’s not qualified for. Even though Patel was replaced by someone who is equally unfit, I’m glad Patel is out. Whoever runs for president as a Democrat will definitely have to pledge that they’ll fire Patel on day one.
A judge found that right-wing propaganda channel Newsmax aired defamatory claims about Dominion Voting Systems surrounding the 2020 election. Dominion also sued Fox “News” who settled for $787 million. If there is no settlement and it goes to trial, a jury could decide against Newsmax for even more.
Dem Sen. Cory Booker made an appearance on Colbert this week, and one quote from it really struck a chord with me. Booker stated: “Change has never come from Washington, it often comes to spite Washington and it comes to Washington by American people who are saying ‘I am not satisfied with what's going on and I'm gonna join a larger movement because it's a moral moment.’” This is absolutely one of those moments.
Dem Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced that she and Sen. Bernie Sanders are headed to LA on Saturday to begin another leg of the “Fight Oligarchy” tour. They then will spend 5 days in 5 “vulnerable, GOP-held districts in California, Utah, Idaho, and Montana.” Awesome.
Sanders did a town hall on CNN hosted by Anderson Cooper last night. Sanders slammed Trump, saying: “We want to be a model to the world. We want people to look at us and people to say ‘we want to be like the United States.’ Not: ‘oh God, the United States, what are they doing?’”
When talking about childhood poverty, Sanders told Cooper and the audience we’ve “got to get CNN to talk about these issues.” Cooper responded: “We’re literally talking about it right now.” Sanders replied: “Yeah, but I’m forcing you to talk about it.”
This is one of the many major problems with corporate media. They want to act like they’re standing on the sidelines as fair arbiters of truth. When in reality, they’re beholden to their shareholders and advertisers. They bow to Trump and kiss his ring, willingly spreading his lies and propaganda.
For the last 9 years we’ve never given Trump an inch. Unlike corporate media, we only present you with the truth. We don’t have any billionaires controlling our stories, or sponsors who pressure us to play nice with Trump. We are proud independent journalists, who also believe we have a duty to use our platform to make a difference.
