That Trump is occasionally self aware is amazing. What a break through. What if he now desired the support of smart people? Would it allow him to flip flop on some of his most insane moves? Nah- never mind, probably not. But what if? Remember George Wallace? He turned toward goodness after years of hate. I haven’t looked at it but he may not have been a malignant narcissist so we have that additional burden in trying to turn the president toward the goodness our founders utilized in forming this nation of people principles and ideals. I’m getting a glimmer of hope and realizing the challenge might not just be overcoming the lies and stopping the destruction. What if the ego maniac could see the benefit of righteous conduct and purer motives? This seemingly innocuous admission that smart people don’t like him just gave me a shimmer of hope as it is an actual realization of something true. And hopefully, maybe (in our pipe dreams)- he wishes to change that legacy.

Love your optimism but what’s really concerning is that he just called his followers dumb… which might get past them if it’s true..

He's as mentally ill as they come...with completely un-treatable madness. The diagnosis can fill an entire page! He should be in an institution because he is a danger to himself and to all the rest of us. Psychotherapist of 40 years making this comment here! :)

Maybe the 'most accurate thing' - he is not smart, he just wiggles and makes waves,

and waves, by their very nature, only repeat what came before them, and then they

just repeat it - no thinking there, just wiggling. That could be a scientific explanation for

his one-off disorder...

I am not sure how to heal megalomania or malignant narcissism but wish shrinks would weigh in! At least inform the public so people are aware of a real diagnostic reason for so much insanity and maliciousness.

They don’t. He could say that and they are so stupid… didn’t cause a ripple. And: they disdain “smart people” and educated people. So that reinforces their exalted status as Trump loyalists

⬆️"...And: they disdain “smart people” and educated people."

IMO That is one of the greatest cons of the GOP - convincing MAGA that the GOP cares for working class voters while Democrats distain them.

Especially when it is rich Ivy League graduates funded by the Oligarchs and special interests who are pretending to be those champions of the working class.

So deceptive … but these clueless people keep voting against their own best interests. I truly cannot imagine how they process their circumstances changing for the worst: prices rising, tariff impacts to farmers and small business owners, etc(cognitive dissonance happens to everyone!) Their devotion to MAGA will blind them to the reality

They don't like smart people. I'm old enough to remember George Wallace calling smart people "pointy heads." ("Pointy head" always makes me think of KKKers in full regalia.) Spiro Agnew used to trash smart people too. I once had a button that said "Hi! I'm an effete, impudent intellectual snob" but I lost it along the way.

My Navy family was stationed in Montgomery, AL for the 1964-65 school year. I was 10 years old when we rolled into Montgomery from the Pacific NW. To say that experience was an unsettling eye-opener would be an understatement. George Wallace, segregation, all of it. We then moved "North" to Virginia, where it's now known as Northern Virginia. But then it was more rural, still the South, and equally unsettling. It was also more transient, which was helpful in transforming it in positive ways. May we please not leave this dystopian nightmare to our children and grandchildren.

Thank you to UK and all the countries who are protesting for American Democracy!

trump has polluted our SCOTUS, our two “party” system of Government, our Judicial system, our history, our freedoms and the whorehouse we used to call the White House!

We must all do what we can to fight this abomination we call a president!

Don't forget that SCOTUS was polluted before Trump came along. Thomas was appointed by Bush I. Roberts and Alito were appointed by Bush II. Citizens United was decided in 2010. I see Trump as the endgame. We've been heading in this direction at least since Reagan.

Last week’s shooting provided the right with yet another opportunity to spread false accusations and disinformation, promote anger and provoke violence. Of course, it’s all a distraction (seems the sole function of this Administration and the right) from the abject failure and blatant illegality of this administration.

As corporate media fails us, we have to push back in a way that the CEOs and oligarchs can understand. Boycott Tesla for sure. But also boycott the legacy media, (you can find better things to do than watch the NFL), and frankly I agree with the Gov of Utah, get off social media, particularly Facebook, Twitter and the like.
