Before we start another week of this Trump and Musk mayhem, I’m happy to deliver another round of good news for you. I hope this gives you some relief, and shows you there are a lot of great people standing with us in this fight against tyranny.
Yesterday, International Women’s Day celebrations took place all across the globe, including hundreds of events in America. Fmr. VP Kamala Harris gave this statement about the day: “Let us remember and live the words of my mother, Dr. Shyamala Gopalan Harris: While we may be the first to do many things, we must make sure we are not the last. When we lift up women, we lift up children, families, communities, and all of society.”
And Fmr. President Joe Biden wrote: “International Women's Day is a time to recognize the achievements of women and girls everywhere and recommit our efforts to advance dignity, opportunity, and equality for all. When women and girls succeed, communities, economies, and democracies succeed.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders continued his “Fight Oligarchy” tour this weekend, with stops in Kenosha, WI, and Warren, MI. The event in Wisconsin was packed with more than 4,000 people. And in Michigan, an estimated 10,512 folks showed up. Sanders stated: “The only way we successfully stand up to authoritarianism is when millions of people come together to fight back.”
Tomorrow, Indivisible is holding a Shut Down the Coup event in DC, to demand that Democrats vote no on Trump’s bogus budget bill. The group says they shouldn’t “sign any funding bill that does not include BINDING mechanisms to limit DOGE or any other agent from impounding and dismantling Federal Agencies.”
A petition calling for Trump’s impeachment, run by the group Free Speech For People, has now passed 250,000 signatures. To be clear, I fully support the immediate impeachment and removal of both Trump and Vance. As should everyone.
On Friday, a coalition of labor unions expanded their lawsuit against the Trump Administration, by asking a federal court to block DOGE from accessing our Social Security data. Fmr. Social Security Administration senior official Tiffany Flick wrote in the filing: “A disregard for our careful privacy systems and processes now threatens the security the data SSA houses about millions of Americans.”
Last week, Barnes & Noble workers won their first union contract ever, at 3 different locations in New York City. Not only will this boost their healthcare benefits, it also raised their minimum wage to $23 an hour. A big win for labor.
In a new interview, Rep. Al Green said the fact he was censured, but Marjorie Taylor-Greene never was, is “a double standard,” and “a form of invidious discrimination.” Green also said he has no regrets about his protest during Trump’s joint session rant: “I believe what I did puts a focus on Medicaid … I think it would be difficult for them … to cut it, given that we have brought this to the attention of the public.”
Rep. Jamie Raskin had this to say when defending Rep. Al Green: “What they've done is they've completely watered down the meaning of censure. Censuring people over heckling. Of course, now we'll have to start censuring Marjorie Taylor Greene, she repeatedly heckled President Biden.”
Sen. Elizabeth Warren spoke in front of a crowd of at least 3,500 people in Austin, TX, yesterday. As always, Warren delivered a rousing speech, saying: “Unelected billionaire Elon Musk, and his co-president Donald Trump think that this country should work for corrupt billionaires, and that everyone else should just bow down. We are here today to deliver a message to Elon and Donald: We don’t bow down.”
Senator Warren is absolutely right—we don’t bow down—we never have, and never will. Unlike corporate media, who sanewashes everything, we’ll always cut through Trump’s lies to deliver the truth.
In addition to reporting the news, I believe it’s our duty to use our platform to make a difference. That’s why I started our activism arm—The Watchdog Coalition—to help lead the resistance against Trump, like we have for the last 9 years.
Every single day, we use our social media network—which is one of the largest in politics—to take on Trump and Musk. For example, our “Don’t Touch Our Medicaid” campaign dominated the trends online, and garnered more than a billion impressions in just two weeks.
We also run one of the biggest contact Congress campaigns, having sent more than 203,000 letters to Congress, and making countless calls to the House and Senate. We’re building true momentum, but we need all hands on deck.
100% of our funding comes from our paid subscribers on Substack. We have no billionaire backers controlling what we report, and we remain ad-free.
So if you haven’t yet, and you’re able, please join us as a paid subscriber today:
No matter how you subscribe, I appreciate you, and everything you do.
Onward!
Scott
