Thanks Diane!

Done!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Thanks Nancy!

Fortunately I live in Virginia so my senators will definitely vote NO. Its a funny thing - i moved here in 1990 & it was a solid red state then! I hope the rest of red America follows suit in the next 30 years - sometimes it just takes that long. But knowing that gives me great hope! Thanks, Scott ✌️💜

Letter opposing Todd Blanche for AG sent.

The part about the judge ordering history back into the parks by July 3rd actually made me tear up. They tried to white it out and the courts said no. We’re not letting them erase us.

Yes, Sam! And an interesting choice of words: "white it out" referring to a regime that is xenphobic, racist, sexist, and misogynistic.

Mike Hammer's avatar

The white blight.

Julie's avatar

Exactly, Mike!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Absolutely right

Mike Hammer's avatar

Yes, that was big!

Joanne Steacie's avatar

Hallelujah!

Peggy Freeman's avatar

I'm glad I am not the only one shedding happy tears when I hear how a judge tells this regime they WILL NOT white out our history! Our young people need to know our history - the good as well as the bad. We will never be erased, Sam, not ever!

This one got me. Ms. Rachel showing up with those letters from the kids… that’s the kind of thing that stays with you. And then the Kennedy Center name coming down the same week? The resistance is actually moving things.

Julie's avatar

And in three of those four stories...women getting it done!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

We need more of it for sure!

Nicole E's avatar

I also loved the song Ms Rachel and others did at the Rise Up concert. So powerful to lift up the voices of kids who can't advocate for themselves easily.

Warrior4Justice's avatar

...and delighted by the little ones who were on stage at the concert. For The Children!!! 💕

Peggy Freeman's avatar

Ms Jonington, as a retired schoolteacher, those letters touched me deeply. I cannot imagine how any of those politicians could not listen to the reading of those letters and not feel remorse for what they have allowed the orange man to do.

Warrior4Justice's avatar

We Are The RESIST movement and we are on fire!! 💯🔥

But the tarp remains. A literal coverup. What's next, a gate in the reflecting pool so we have a literal water-gate?

Julie's avatar

I heard that Trump ordered it covered. His extremely fragile ego couldn't take his fading name removed from the Kennedy Center, especially on his birthday and he couldn't have attendees at his UFC fight see that it was gone.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

without a doubt Julie!

Robot Bender's avatar

We need some intrepid person to sneak behind that tarp and take and post some pictures.

Julie's avatar

I like that idea, Robot!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

I can see it now

Denise Palesch's avatar

Didn’t Congress always require no obstruction of the Kennedy name?

Sandy S's avatar

I would love to see protesters in front of the tarp with signs that say, BYE BYE DONNIE!

Diane Schuler's avatar

Maybe that tarp will just disappear some night.

Scott Dworkin's avatar

my guess is the judge will order the removal

Sher''s avatar

The Tarp Needs To Come Down As Well!

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Absolutely

Kai Kinzer's avatar

This is the height of passive-aggression. I'll believe his name is gone when I see it.

Sher''s avatar

The tarp needs to come down…period.

John Widdowson's avatar

I enjoyed seeing the criminal's name taken down and LMAO when the tarp was erected so the thin-skinned convicted felon, rapist, grifter and deadbeat didn't see it.

ActBlue: the fact that Talarico had donations of $27 million to the disgusting Paxton's $2 million gives me hope that we are on the verge of a Democratic senator being elected in November, and in Texas! There is hope.

Debbie E's avatar

I'm heading over to Act Blue right now to make another donation to James Talarico.

Allison's avatar

But Trump has covered up Kennedy's name. Please keep covering this. The little toddler in chief won't unveil the name without pressure.

Susan's avatar

When I heard Trump’ name had been ordered by a judge to be removed, I thought “Hallelujah!”

When I heard that a judge ordered the regime to restore every sign in the parks that had been removed and to do it by July 3, I was thrilled.

When you told me Ken Paxton had been put in his place by the judge, blocked from refiling his grievance and called out for being petty and childish, I was delighted.

And Ms. Rachel: I cried. We need 1,000 more Ms. Rachels to be able to obtain letters from every child in every detention center and have them freed. Core Civic should be made to pay damages and pay out of pocket for mental health therapy for them. They have made enough money to be able to afford it.

Thank you Scott. You are a godsend!

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

It stinks that we didn't get to see the letters being pulled down, and have they even dropped the tarps yet?

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

I've seen a couple of photos that purport to be taken between the tarps, but that's not enough for me. Color me skeptical of everything his people claim.

Susan's avatar

And, I wonder if it is possible for the populace ( those that are interested) to mount a class action lawsuit against the Trump family in every state against Trump’s estate for the illegal detention centers and the people who thought them up in the first place. Injuries, wrongful death, pain and suffering, starvation, denial of medical care. Those were not prisons. They were torture chambers.

LEJ's avatar

And still ARE torture chambers......

Hal's avatar

That's a great idea. I don't know how practical or legally feasible it would be, but one of the best things that could happen for the whole USA is for the Trump family to have to pay money -- the only thing they care about -- for some of the damage they've done. Payment for damages and claw back some of what they've stolen.

Kim Nesvig's avatar

My thought, when I saw the Trump name come down, was…it’s a start.

Betsy Braverman's avatar

Scott - can you please bring back the "listen" option for these articles?

Scott Dworkin's avatar

Oh for sure I would never take it away Betsy! Glad the bug got fixed, that was quick!

Sam Jones's avatar

Betsy I still see it on the app!

Betsy Braverman's avatar

It's on in the app but not the web version

Betsy Braverman's avatar

It works now - thanks :)

Scott, the removal of Trump’s name from the Kennedy Center was the most meaningful for me. I worked on JFK’s Presidential campaign and attended his Inauguration on that cold day in January of 1961. Unforgettable!

Songgirl Kim's avatar

The story about Ms Rachel gave me the most hope. Children learn to balance truth with social awareness as they grow. My daughter is a sped teacher, and the stories she tells me about what those kids say is heartwarming.

Virginia Stewart's avatar

The tarp needs to come down! And a huge thank you to Ms. Rachel! Even in all this rain, the day is a lot brighter.

Debbie E's avatar

When his name came down, I wished it was because all of his crimes, corruption, and treasonous behavior finally led to his presidency coming to an end as well. Ms. Rachel is a hero.
