Convicted felon Donald Trump officially announced his VP pick and it’s just as bad as we thought. J.D. Vance represents the worst of MAGA: lying, spewing conspiracy theories, and cowing to Donald’s every whim. Vance was one of the first to point fingers at Democrats and spread lies after the rally shooting.
Meanwhile our amazing Vice President Kamala Harris is out there doing awesome work, rallying the base and reminding us all how important this election is for the future of our country.
On Saturday afternoon, VP Harris was in Philadelphia for a town hall where she blew the roof off the convention center.
It really was a great speech. So just in case you missed it, here are some of the most important lines:
Fundamentally, this election will come down to this. President Biden and I fight for the American people. Donald Trump does not.
Remember, before our successful fight to pass the Affordable Care Act, what that meant for people with preexisting conditions, children with asthma, women who survived breast cancer, grandparents with diabetes? We cannot forget what that was like and the fact that he is trying to roll us backward.
And while I will not repeat the vile, vile language that Trump has used, I will say, someone who vilifies immigrants, who promotes xenophobia, who stokes hate, and who incites fear should never again have the chance to stand behind a microphone–and never again have the chance to stand behind the seal of the president of the United States of America.
Donald Trump openly vowed, if reelected, that he will be a dictator on day one, that he will weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies, that he will round up peaceful protesters and throw them out of our country, and even, quote, “terminate” the United States Constitution.
So, ultimately, in this election, we each face a question: What kind of country do we want to live in? Do we want to live in a country of freedom, compassion, and rule of law or a country of chaos, fear, and hate? We each have the power to answer this question.

“Donald Trump picked J.D. Vance as his running mate because Vance will do what Mike Pence wouldn’t on January 6: bend over backwards to enable Trump and his extreme MAGA agenda, even if it means breaking the law and no matter the harm to the American people.
“As Trump’s running mate, Vance will make it his mission to enact Trump’s Project 2025 agenda at the expense of American families. This is someone who supports banning abortion nationwide while criticizing exceptions for rape and incest survivors; railed against the Affordable Care Act , including its protections for millions with preexisting conditions; and has admitted he wouldn’t have certified the free and fair election in 2020.
“Billionaires and corporations are literally rooting for J.D. Vance: they know he and Trump will cut their taxes and send prices skyrocketing for everyone else.
“Over the next three and a half months, we will spend every single day making the case between the two starkly contrasting visions Americans will choose between at the ballot box this November: the Biden-Harris ticket who’s focused on uniting the country, creating opportunity for everyone, and lowering costs; or Trump-Vance – whose harmful agenda will take away Americans’ rights, hurt the middle class, and make life more expensive – all while benefiting the ultra-rich and greedy corporations.”
